Most are feels so childish and left unfinished, I mean they all have their own unique characters but after marriage most of their charm vanishes Abigail trapped in the farm once was a daring explorer now just standing and watching crops grow, Alex the same had not much going on before but still except Penny she is always goes for a walk and barely in the house/farm, she doesn't quit her job, still look after other people's kids while leaving her new born in the house all alone, everyone feels abit off in their own ways also possible because of it feels like. Everyone becomes a really good friend rather than a spouse

I had a similar discussion the other day and to me, it's always seemed logically like it should be Abigail for a few distinct reasons:
1. She's someone who explores and is out and about most of the day, even exploring our farm and reminiscing on the fun she had doing so prior to our moving to the valley

2. She wants to do stuff we do like fighting and entering the mines, some people fixate on that the ideal spouse should be someone who's suited to the 'farm spouse' sort of role, but we hardly fit that ourselves, doing fishing, mining, and combat equally if not more than mining. This also means we're suitable as a pair to do these activities together, or at least hang out in the valley together, such as her playing the flute at the mountains while we fish.

3. She didn't come to the valley with a developed goal/to escape something, and doesn't have set aspirations that'll lead her out of the valley. Unlike someone like Leah who came to the valley to escape the city life and has her own settled life, or someone like Sebastian who wishes to explore the big city life in his future, Abigail's goals are far less concrete, and most of them are rather valley-centered, things like exploring and combat being possible within the valley. She also doesn't have her own house which means we're not really taking much autonomy from her in that regard.


My only critique to this argument is that we don't really actually see it happen, as much as its hinted at, we have no way of letting her follow us into the mines, and not even any dialogue pointing towards her doing this with us, which would be reassuring to see. If that was ever added in basically any capacity, I'd be completely sure she's the most suited towards the SDV farmer (farmer/fighter/miner) life alongside us as players.

Does that thing of sort of shuffling her feet on level 10 not count as "following the farmer into the mines?"

Kind of? That cutscene has always seemed more like her on her own rather than doing something alongside us which would constitute the point I was trying to make for the best farm spouse, though it could be considered as such.

I think the same thing could have been more aligned with the point I was trying to make if the cutscene was more mines-focused (instead of it just leading us into relationship talk), and/or happened when we were married, or the whole cutscene was about us going together for example

I think it does, but I think it’s not in her regular schedule. She’ll just appear in the mines on rainy days, but she doesn’t go there.

Haley. And i will tell you why!

1) Haley and Alex, are the most good looking characters.
2) They both have interesting personalities, despite their good looks, something which actually surprises somebody paying attention to details (or to character development).
3) Theirs, is the last cutscene in the game, romance order wise.
4a) Alex fits perfectly in the healthy lifestyle that Stardew packs, with workout in mind and whatnot; with all those nutrients rich food, health buffing countryside, fresh air etc.
4b) Similarly, Haley is after fashion, initially considers the setting boring, the animals/plants/farmer(s) dirty and is the perfect city would be resident; but post a marvellous metamorphosis, she tries hard to like it all and discovers she likes us (the farmer), too! Her fail with cows handling was very funny, also :P
5) Last but not least, she likes taking pictures. And that is the greatest hint. Idyllic scenery (as well as moments), befitting of memory and worthy of becoming art...

P.S. And i will dare to say it, anyway... Both Alex and Haley, to most people, look like "Prizes", as well! As in, "hot" candidates, the very "best", etc. A small "perfection", as in they combine only the best aspects and are actually at the top. Haley quite literally at that, with the entire "Spring Queen" deal (and the only dancer to wear a halo, too)!
