What’s the unluckiest thing that has ever happened to you?

My first prismatic shard in my first save I found in the Skull Cavern... and then died... and when looking at what I lost, the shard was there along with my lava sword. So I had to choose to keep the shard and lose the weapon and everything else I lost... or just lose the shard when I restarted the day.

I restarted the day.

I haven't had any unlucky things in game, but one time my 2nd playthrough save file got corrupted and it was too time consuming to fix it, so I had to restart everything :') I was in year 2 about to marry Sebastian and I was rich, so I was pretty devastated about that save file :(. I think it broke because I hadn't played in such a long time and the game got a huge update ://////// I wish that never happened ://// lol.

You could have recovered the shard and used it to get the other sword.

My unluckiest is probably fainting on level ninety something.

Bronze Medal : not a single prismatic shard at all before the second winter.
Silver Medal : game crashed on Vita while saving a day I got a prismatic shard.
Gold Medal : an unplanned power black out shut down my computer during a skull cavern run that was going extremely well. as in, several hundreds of irridium ore & 2 prismatic Shard well. Pretty sure the scream of agonising rage I made when that happened was Lavos-tier

Unluckiest thing? Getting a high luck day on the same day I have to harvest crops, collect jellies, brews, honey, mayos, cheese, aged cheese, and of course, load up all the artisan machines again to process the crops and animal products into their respective artisan goods. Those days are an all day affair, and is usually followed with bad or neutral luck days the rest of the week.

In SDV it seems like luck is a relative thing. "Bad" luck comes out the most with lower chances of getting things, like Fish vs Trash when Fishing and Stairs being found less often when Mining. But for an actually bad outcome? The only ones that immediately spring to mind is the group 10 heart events, which can be avoided in more than one way.

The rest of the relatively bad luck is cumulative time spent waiting for any of the in-game chance based outcomes:

Ancient Seed
Coffee Bean
Prismatic Shard
rare artifacts
Legendary Fish liking my bait
Marnie in her shop

And let's be honest. Time spent waiting for something to happen is time to reflect on the pastoral sereneness of your surroundings. I don't see the Sheep stressing about pushing more wool outta their skins. And those Pigs don't seem terribly concerned about nosing around for Truffles. Well, at least their indolence saves me work.

However they need to have a chat with the 2 Rabbits which have dropped around 10 Rabbits Feet so far. There's something funny happening there as the last time I counted the feet on a Rabbit, they had less than 5 each. I dunno, maybe I got broken Rabbits or they've been exchanging notes with salamanders when I'm not looking. But at least you can make a cool shirt out of them so that's not bad luck at all.

Oooo, those are legit real bad luck. There is something quite cathartic about those howls of rage, though. Better out than in!

Well, my current farmer does not seem to be the luckiest. Winter of Year 2 and still no ancient seeds (not even the mutant bugs are dropping them), no Dino egg, and no prismatic shard. She’s somewhat foolishly held on to her obsidian blade, refusing to purchase a better weapon, convinced that the next time she visits the skull cavern a prismatic shard will be hers. Instead, on days with unfettered luck, she gets flying serpent after flying serpent- sometimes swarms of 6 or more. They aren’t dropping any shards either. At least she can talk to the dwarf. My first farmer didn’t find the first dwarvish scroll until almost her 4th year.

Fortunately, not many unlucky things have happened in my game. Although I suppose it would count, that early game, I almost always had bad luck. The strange thing was, I would have good (but never best) luck on rainy days. Fortunately, by very late spring/summer, the pattern stopped.

In my current save, I spent around nearly a month irl trying to get a dwarf scroll III for my lava eels. Usually though, it’s trying to get the last few artifacts needed for the museum to the point that I haven’t completed it yet in any saves hahaha

I'll be honest. I've only completed the museum collection in 1 save. I've had two saves go to 5 years (1 solo, 1 multi), one save in summer year 2 (solo) and another in summer year 1 (multi). The only one where I've completed the collection was the 5 year multi game, so there were 2 of us searching for all that stuff.

My farmer Raven finally broke down and bought a lava katana. It’s winter of year 2 and she is planning on doing a deep dive in the skull cavern and the obsidian blade just won’t do. She scampered off to practice with her new blade on the mutant bugs. Of course, the katana made quick work of those annoying pests. And what did she find in her backpack? The much sought after ancient seed (yeah!) and a prismatic shard (are you freaking kidding me!!). The Dino egg is still elusive. Raven plans, again rather foolishly, to hang onto the katana. Maybe it will bring her luck.
