Does anyone know who this Secret note 11 picture is supposed to represent? Is it Marnie and Shane when they were much younger? Is there any known meaning of why this picture was included?
I've been wondering the exact same thing! I got this note a while ago and I am so curious about it. I suppose I assumed it was Jas with Marnie in the picture but it could definitely be Shane too.

Local Legend
Since Jas is the niece of Marnie, it very well could be a young Jas with her mother, who's either dead or in some other way out of the picture.

The woman looks similar but not exactly like Marnie, which could of course be a matter of age, though Jas is not that old herself (this image and the present could be as little as 5-6 years apart), and the change in looks and complete difference in clothing style could be a matter of being a different person entirely.

I didn’t think of that it could very well be Jas and her mother visiting her aunt/sister’s ranch. Aw! This thread just turned super sad. 😢

Me too.
It sounds like a sad story.

But I agree with him.
That indicates Jas was adopted by Marnie when she was a small baby and her mother never came back again.

According to the dialogues from Jas, she is always lonely and desires for mother's love.
I conjecture Jas considers Marnie her mother with subconsciousness.
They live together treating each other like true family memebers.

I must say the idea that that picture being of Jas and her mother visiting Marnie is the best theory I've seen so far. Which would suggest that Marnie knew Jas's family, but there's no definite evidence they were related. It would be very strange if Shane is Marnie's nephew AND Jas is also her niece. Is Jas really Marnie's niece? I've never been able to figure out their relationship for sure. Marnie states that Shane is her nephew, but she never says anything about Jas. Jas and Shane certainly aren't siblings. Shane is Jas's godfather and he was a friend of her parents, according to Jas. Which suggests he was about the same age as her parents. That's all we know. If he is Marnie's nephew, then very likely her parents were not related to Marnie, or Jas would tell the farmer he was her uncle, not her godfather. Yes, Jas calls Marnie "Aunt" but that is likely a respectful, affectionate title, just like Vincent calls the farmer "aunt" or "uncle." She also refers to Shane as "Uncle Shane" in his 8 heart event, which again I think is just an affectionate title. It's very ordinary in some social circles for kids to call adults that they know "uncle" or "aunt," at least it used to be. And also, Marnie says that Shane has been renting a room from her in a way that sounds as though it hasn't been going on all that long, yet never says anything about whether Jas lived with her before he arrived or came with him. It's all pretty mysterious and maybe inconsistent, but all in all I don't think Jas is literally Marnie's niece.

Jas also mentions that she is not really related to Shane.

I see a younger Marnie with baby Jas on this picture. In fact, I'm pretty sure that the picture was taken by Jas' parents moments before they were charged and killed by Marnie's bull. Ever wonder why Marnie only sells cows? Now you know.
Out of guilt, Marnie decided to raise Jas and she threw away this picture that is a proof of her negligent management of her ranch.
And this is also the reason why Shane moved in Marnie's Ranch: he suspects something and he wants to keep an eye on Jas to prevent any harm done to her.

Perhaps it's a hint towards a future plan, where we may find out more info on Jas and her family?

Shane is her godfather and Marnie her aunt, so it makes sense that they'd care for her with her parents being dead. A godfather is typically a close friend to one/both parents - Shane may have been at school with one parent, and Marnie is related to the other, for example. As the photo appears to be on Marnie's ranch, the woman being Marnie's sister + Jas' mother makes sense.
