iOS 1.6.14 still happening: stuck going south, must force quit

When entering Cindersnap Forest from the farm, sometimes my character gets stuck in moving south mode, and I can’t do anything about it. Touching the screen only triggers movement south; no menus or item selection is possible. After getting stuck at a bush, there’s nothing to do. The only option is a force quit.

I’ve taken to saving right before entering from the farm, so I have a mid-day save file that may trigger this again. I’m not sure where to upload the save files. (I tried to use attach files to attach them to this message, but they aren’t selectable in that format.)

I’m using iPadOS 18.1 and the Apple Pencil. (I’ve rebooted, checked that the pencil is working outside of Stardew Valley, used my finger instead of the pencil… nothing has helped.)

This happened with 1.6.12 and now with .13 as well.
Currently using v1.6.13 build 24313

Thanks!

Additional location: going south into the Beach from town, had the same error. Ran to the ocean, still trying to run. Can’t stop it, change directions, or open a menu. Had to force quit. This time I don’t have a backup file before entering this section of the map because I didn’t expect it to happen at the Beach. I do have one called SVEMERG - will duplicate and save that in case it could be helpful, and someone can tell me where to upload it.

And… again. From the Railroad south to the Mountain. (Same day as the Beach error, after I restarted it from 6 am.)

Has anyone else had this error?

I’m wondering if I should give up and start a new game from Spring 1.

Nooooooo! It’s not just that game’s file.

I started a new farm. Day 3, 1:30 pm, going toward Cindersap Forest on my own farm… stuck in going south mode on my own farm. My new little farmer looks like she’s on a treadmill up against a rock - she’s still moving even when I’m not touching the screen.

Installed 1.6.14 build 24317 and it seemed like everything was going fine; I was able to play through two days with no movement issues in my new game file, so I returned to the older one (started after 1.6 so it was in Fall Year 1). I played three days successfully… then on day 13 at about 7 pm my farmer got on her horse and headed south to the Beach and had another stuck-going-south bug. Force quit.

I have found that this bug is more likely to appear if the farmer (and horse if riding) stops when almost to the new map. I usually tap right at the edge of the map and let go, waiting for the character to move across the map while my hand rests. I did this and let her run from Lewis’ House south, but she stopped at the south edge of the bridge. I backed her up, saved a backup, moved south again and got her to move into the Beach but couldn’t change direction or do anything.

I’m making copies of the current game files before starting again, in case they can be helpful and someone can tell me how to upload them.

Updated the title - it still happens.
Currently on 1.6.14.1 Build 24320

This time my farmer was leaving the big shed at 11:30 pm. Had to force quit, lose the day. :(

Version 1.6.14.3 Build 24321
It’s still happening. I can’t identify anything that I’m doing that triggers it - sometimes I’m using the Apple Pencil, sometimes not, etc.

Anyone else?

1.6.14.5 build 24329 still happening.
It makes the game very hard to play when I never know if I can complete a day or will have to restart it.
The last time it happened, my Apple Pencil slipped slightly as I was tapping to move; I don’t think this is every time, but I’m trying to notice everything associated with the bug in hopes that it’ll be helpful somehow.

Bug happened again (leaving the barn this time), and I force closed. Looked in files, found the SVEMERG with the timestamp of when I force closed, and tried to attach it here. It wasn’t an option, so I added “.txt” to the file name and tried again… but I got the message “The uploaded file is too large.”

If this file would be helpful, or any of the other files, please let me know how to share it with you.

I’ve been having this problem for awhile now. M4 iPad Pro. Apple Pencil Pro. As well as M1 iPad Pro with Apple Pencil. From what I can surmise whenever I touch the bar at the bottom to go back to springboard I get the can only travel south issues. It happens frequently, along with also getting triggered by multiple hand multitouch where the map resizes and then bugged again. Only option is to force quit and reopen and resume where I left off.

Honestly it’s completely unplayable for me now. I can’t play one day without triggering this issue.

It happens multiple times a day. And one instance I had it happened about a dozen times over 2 hours of gameplay. I can avoid it most of the time now by adjusting the map size so I don’t trigger it (it specifically has to do with the line at the bottom that is part of the OS and multitouch) so when traveling to a bottom of the screen exit to another part of the map. I can zoom and not trigger it, but if I use a finger or the pencil and drag across that line, it happens pretty much every time.
