Xbox Not Able to Remove Items On Walls

I'm playing on the XBOX 1 with a wireless controller. It won't let me remove anything on my walls in the main house. I've already upgraded all the way and was trying to add an attic but it won't let me because of a window. I went to remove it as usual and it will not let me move anything that's on a wall. Not the window or the decorations so I can't get the attic. I tried using a tool, or having it on an empty space in my backpack as some suggested and nothing. I can't remove anything on the walls. I can't do it in multiplayer or alone.

Did you stand just in front of the wall or nearby? I had the problem with wallpapers but on Android and there you must stand just near the wall to place a wallpaper. Maybe it is the same with all other items.

I stood right in front of the wall, right in front of the window. And nothing. Couldn't remove it.

i’m having the same issue on switch since the update

I'm on Switch. I found that I have to use the right joystick to activate a pointer, move it over to the item on the wall, and THEN I can pick it up.
