Whenever he feels like it. I personnally don't wait for any updates. I just enjoy the game and whenever a new update comes in, it's like a surprise. The game feels very complete as is. I feel like it's kind of rude to expect more than what we already have when CA is coding everything on his own and maybe feels like working on something else for once. I wouldn't like to put this kind of pressure on him.

Given that we only just got 1.6 recently, and it's still coming out today for console for the first time, I would say not anytime in the next couple years. But I'm not complaining... a lot of us thought there wouldn't even be a 1.6 after 1.5 dropped in 2020. So it's been 4 years... I wouldn't expect anything else anytime soon. He's also working on a new game at the moment, so a 1.7 update might not even be on the radar at all yet, if ever.

He DID say he’s moving on to “Haunted Chocolatier” next full time. Does that mean there will never be another Stardew update, not necessarily. However, I think the first version of his new game and bug fixes will be first. So likely years before anything else for SDV, if ever.

and bug fixes will be first
Speaking of this, in early October this year I found that there’s a small bug thats not fixed in 1.6.9 (at that time still in beta): using a heavy tapper should be able to prevent oak and maple trees from transforming to green rain trees in fall, just like regular tapper, but this is not present in the game (link).

Currently I'm thinking about making a mod that prevent oak trees and maple trees from transforming into leafless green rain trees altogether in fall. I found such mechanism to be the only thing I dislike in 1.6 update or in the entire Stardew Valley. But I don't really have that much free time to do it. And that really the only thing (probably along with other small bugs) that I hope will appear in 1.6.10 update (if there's an future update at all). There's really no need to add additional content.

Lot of people seem to be replying as if the post was "when he is going to add 1.7?" , but the poster is asking WHAT you think he would add lol.

Even going as far as saying it's rude lol (just one, but still...how crazy when you didn't even read it right). Maybe read the post correctly before insulting others.

^sorry that was kind of irritating to me.

To add to the post of what would be cool to add: perhaps more levels on the skills or something like that, but that's a HUGE undertaking and I'm happy with how it is as well.

Also if you really like 1.7 you can just play stardew valley expanded. It just has a major 1.15 update as well. A 2.0 update is also underway. Also stardew valley expanded is arguably canon since its creator Flashshifter worked with CA on 1.6 update.

Yeah, that's me you're talking about. Hi ! Sorry if my reply bugged you. On one hand, I have to give it to you, I misread OP's post. No biggie though.

But still, I feel like asking what would be added in 1.7 is implying for already wanting a version 1.7 to come out when 1.6 is still about to release on consoles so my opinion remains the same. I've also seen people asking this kind of question and people were suspicious that OP would take those suggestions for their own game project so I don't feel comfortable sharing ideas on this thread.

I have no idea, but I don't think it will be anytime soon. (if ever)
There are so many mods that people can do that I think ConcernedApe is pretty content to let us expend on the games lore. He'll probably do bug fixes too, but the mods account for all of the other stuff he might need to change, allowing him to put full attention to the Haunted Chocolatier.
BTW can't wait for Haunted Chocolatier!

I'll go with what CA has mentioned over the past few months:

CA was working on Haunted Chocolatier.
Stardew v1.6 was supposed to be a modding update with minimal content addition. But of course ideas cannot be contained or ignored and thus they were added to v1.6 which became a significant content update with some modding updates on the side.
Haunted Choccy development was put on temporary hiatus.
Stardew console and mobile updates take their time but at least it was only 1/3 the time as the previous ones so great!
There will be some rounds of Stardew bugfixes but CA is now concentrating on Haunted Chocolatier until it releases.

Most important bit he's mentioned: the above experience in developing v1.6 has shown that Stardew will never be 'done.'

I interpret this as: there will always be ideas, there will always be things you might want to do better or expand. But those need to wait until Hounted Chocccy is done and maybe even after v1.1 or v1.2 of HC. But SDV is his first baby and I think there will always be new fun things to add at the proper time.

Relevant to the original question here?

Golden Farmer Bobbi statue. It's the only thing missing from v1.6.
