stardew valley 1.7

A nice easter egg in Haunter Chocolatier would be that you receive a wrong number call from one of the shopkeepers in the Valley on occasion. Maybe looking for the local farmer who's Pickaxe upgrade it ready or to let that farmer know that there are new building plans at the local carpenter's shop. I'd love that!

Honestly I think it might be something completely new and random in 1.7. You know on the grand scale of what Ginger Island was.

But I am *really* looking forward to Haunted Chocolatier as well - I know it's been mentioned that he's focussing on that at the moment, and I'm okay if 1.7 doesn't come out for quite a while due to that.

I wish a technical improvement:
Using placeholders in the dialogue of Events instead of having the text there alternating with stage directions...
(making modded events, you can do that... the text goes in separate language files) And in most other cases the texts are separated from code.

For us "wild" translators that would be very helpful... (I hope there are no changes in Events I haven't noticed...
I save you from a horror example... but an Event code at worst is a single line spanning more than a screenful, with numbers and keywords separated by slashes (no formatting allowed), interspersed with dialogue elements...

Let's see 1.6.X patched up and bug-free on all consoles, mobile, and PC. Then we'll talk about Chocolatier or any further Stardew updates.

I'm adding (or rather elaborating) on the language thing: could it be possible to plan the game so that adding translation would be easily possible (and preferably better integrated with the game, so a "wild translation" would work even for mobile users.
I just popped in and saw several requests for different languages.
I've been trying to make and upkeep Finnish translation for some time now (since version 1.4.) and hoping there'd be an easier way to see what has been changed or added, also lagging, not only due to making this as a hobby, but because I need to start by a playthrough and then sorting umpteen files.
Finnish obviously has not enough people to even dream of an official translation but I can see that even adding those requests would be too hard for an Indie game. But making a way to easily add "wild" translations, marked as such would be great.

what do y'all think concernedape gonna add on 1.7?

edit: omg y'all im just asking about your thoughts on what's concernedape gonna add if stardew gets another update from him. not asking for 1.7 specially when 1.6 just came out on mobile and consoles.
I have no idea what might be coming in future updates, maybe being able to remove bait from rods on Mobile? Or at least I don't know how to do it. Another thing that would be nice could be to be able to dance like the other NPCs in the flower dance (Instead of doing our weird little dance)

I personally think that with how crazy hard this update has been for him and his employees that there won’t be a 1.7. You can only take so much nothing off, verbal abuse and threats from your fan base before you just don’t care to give so much of your sweat, blood and tears to them.

I hope a harsh lesson has been learned about how much trouble it is to expand this "nebulously coded" game outwards as with 1.6, rather than on top of (like 1.5). If we see a 1.7 with major content additions, I would bet it almost certainly will be something that doesn't touch the base game or expand anything, but it will be something that adds on to the endgame post ginger island. Either that, or a new self-contained area. It seems that 1.6 was biting off way more than he and his team could chew, as they're still patching it up almost a year later. I doubt they want to have to go through all the hassle again, and let fans down all over again as well. But I doubt we'll see anything new for Stardew for quite a while. I assume he's itching to work on Chocolatier, as soon as the patching work is done

I will fully agree with @Lew Zealand, @FilthyGorilla, @LRangerR and @RoseNoire here.

The game as it is feels very complete and there are tons of ways to enjoy it, especially when starting a new farm, thanks to all the additions brought by update 1.6 at different stages of the game.
I've been playing update 1.6 since day 1 (and SDV for years) and I still play it as much as I can spare.

I would like ConcernedApe to focus on Haunted Chocolatier for two main reasons:
  1. I have a very keen interest in Haunted Chocolatier and I would like to know more about this game and play it
  2. ConcernedApe said SDV update 1.6 took far more time and work load than initially intended and that now he wants to resume development on Haunted Chocolatier. As a former game developer, I can relate to that: supporting previous games is always nice (and mandatory), but we need to move to new things. That's what fuels our motivation!
So, if update 1.7 happens, I'll be happy to play it and probably enjoy the new content. If it never happens, I won't miss it.

As for what I would like to see in a future SDV update?
  • A animation for bee houses when they are processing, like small busy bees flying around it
  • A way to remove/disable the golden parrot and Fizz from Ginger Island. I totally understand why there are there from a game design point of view (to provide an alternate way for some players to enjoy every aspect of the game), but as SDV story arc strongly shows Joja as evil, having such immuable representatives of evil in a place that is supposed to be virgin, feels very strange and even anti-climaxing. If at least the farmer could make them leave, the same way she does with Joja Mart or if they could be removed once all golden walnut are found/perfection is achieved...
  • An extended or simplier way to prevent regular trees to become green rain trees in autumn: placing a tapper on them is too expensive. I don't like the design of the green rain trees.

As you can see, all these changes are rather small and would more have their place in an patch 1.6.xx rather than in a future 1.7 update.

Haunted Chocolatier, whenever CA chooses to pronounce a release, is an Instant Purchase for me. Full on “shut up and take my money”. He’s done so well with Stardew I’m buying HC right away even if I might not play it until a year or two later. There are Very few developers I will say that for.

I have some minor wish list items for Stardew, but nothing I want to take up CA’s time for. Maybe I’ll try my hand at modding, one of these days. I retire soon, so I will have a fair bit of time.

That said, no foul for you to state your own wish list. I’m sure everyone, even CA himself has an “it would be nice if…” bucket of ideas, and nothing wrong with sharing.

And he's literally said it's expanding in/on the SDV universe, it's not entirely separate so there will probably be a load of little tidbits or full on easter eggs for us pertaining to stardew, something I am honestly way too excited for
