Solved Move saves from Xbox Game Pass to Steam [Windows]

Hey
My Xbox game pass is running out, in 5 days and i really love stardew Valley, so I want to buy the game instead of subscribing to Xbox game pass. But I really want to buy it on steam because it’s cheaper and it’s just easier overall. But will I lose my save files? Or can I move them over?

I just checked and it looks like Game Pass and Steam use same savefile location, so you won't have to move your saves and steam version should automatically detect the saves you made with game pass version when you start it the first time.

You can backup your saves. To find them, open File Explorer and type into the address bar: %AppData%\StardewValley\Saves\ and then copy your saves to another location on your drive where you can find it. If it doesn't work, you still have the backups.

It should work fine, though.

How about co-op mode, does it work if you are the host?

It should. The saves are in the same place, and only if you are the host.

If you're not the host, your character is stored in the host's save. If they host the same game, when you connect you'll have the same character.

I recently bought Stardew Valley on Steam, and it automatically reads the saves from my Xbox Game Pass. It should work perfectly fine.

If it is backed up to Steam, yes.

Will it move the achievements from Xbox over to Steam? I’m looking into getting steam for the mods.

If you already meet the requirements, most achievements will unlock automatically when you load the save. There's a few exceptions for achievements that aren't tracked separately though (notably Fector's Challenge and Prairie King).

Hmmmm... I'm not sure gamepass works, sorry.

This just happened to me too. If you had played on console previously, you need to install and open the game using the Xbox App. I opened Steam version again and it was there, deleted Xbox version to be sure and it's still there.
