Windows Syncing Xbox and Steam After Subscription Ended

For a while, I played Stardew Valley on my Xbox using the Xbox Live Core Subscription. After they came out with the update for Xbox subscriptions and transferred my subscription to the Xbox Essentials, I started playing Stardew on my computer via the Xbox Cloud Gaming, I got myself a new computer, and started using my Xbox less and less. Now, I hardly use my Xbox, and play most of my games on Steam.

Since I started playing all my games on my computer, I decided to cancel my Xbox subscription. All of my friends played the game on steam, and owning the game on steam instead of paying monthly would save me a lot of money. I cancelled my subscription and bought the game on steam.

Unfortunately, I didn't think about my world saves. A quick google search told me that the games would sync between Xbox and Steam, and I trusted that. I launched the game on Steam, and all my saves were gone! I went to check if they were on Xbox Game pass, but my subscription privileges just expired a few days ago.

I most recently played the game on my PC via Xbox Game Pass, where I had all of my saves. I've launched the game on Steam and checked the saves, and they weren't there. Is there a way to get my saves again without having to pay the Xbox Subscription Fee again? I don't want to have to pay 10-20 dollars to unlock my saves. Any workarounds, ideas, or methods I could try?

I'm sorry, but the info you read online wasn't correct. There is no way to transfer your save files from Xbox (or other consoles) to Steam.
