Why can't we have dusty?

I feel like it is weird we cannot have Dusty (Alex's dog) because I feel that not only would Dusty love to still be with Alex, but Alex would love to have his buddy with him; if this were to be added, I think if you have already been married to Alex for a couple of weeks, he should bring it up to you like, "My grandparents are having a hard time taking care of Dusty, can we take him to the farm to live with us?" and you could have the choice to say yes or no.

I feel like it wouldn't make sense to have Jas move with Shane. He's her godfather, but Marnie is her aunt, and has been the more stable adult presence in her life. It's a shame she can't come visit on the farm, but at least Shane does go to Marnie's once a week.

Shane is literally Jas's guardian. Jas herself admits that Shane was friends with her parents, and took her in when they passed away.
Yet Shane for some reason doesn't mention Jas's parents at all in-game, which I find very odd, because tons of fan media have this as a main motivator to Shane's depression... yet the base game hardly mentions it.

This has bothered me so much I even made a post in the Game Suggestions subforum, because this has seriously bugged me as to why Marnie and Jas's relationship hadn't been clarified by the game. Jas refers Marnie as her aunt, yet Marnie doesn't really mention Jas as her niece as far as I am aware.

The whole family situation has always bothered me with how vague it is, because it sort of causes a ton of problems for Shane's characterization, because Jas is supposed to be one of Shane's biggest motivators for sobriety, that having Jas be sidelined in his story makes the whole arc extremely messy.

“Did you know Shane's my godfather? He was a friend of my parents. ...they died. *sniff*”

Which isn't quite the same as saying he took her in. Marnie apparently never really mentions Jas, but says Shane arrived "a few months ago". When did Jas's parents die? Did she and Shane come together, or had she been at Marnie's already? Is Marnie her biological aunt?

Given Shane's drinking issue and his feelings of worthlessness, it makes sense to me that he would either send or bring Jas to Marnie instead of trying to parent her himself, and not want to uproot her after his marriage. Since the two farms are right next to each other, I like to imagine Shane and Jas actually go back and forth a lot.

And here she uh... literally calls her her niece (yeah, I get that she literally mentions mead for some reason, I think the game has this habit of having characters mentioning gifts to help the farmer for the game... but it leads to this ****)

It's really just... confusing and makes my head hurt. Even more is that there is a picture with baby Jas and young Marnie in one of the notes. Drew Marnie, Past and Present! : r/StardewValley

Like... the biggest thing is that the game really doesn't answer the question of whether Marnie IS her aunt or is just a really close friend of her parents... even though it's confirmed that Shane is a close friend of her parents.

But Shane also doesn't really mention Jas's parents either. There are straight up weird lines from him that sort of try to explain his backstory... but don't mention Jas's parents.

“I guess I've grown attached to Marnie and Jas. We're a ragtag bunch but it kind of feels like a weird family. I never really had much of a family as a kid.”

There are also some lines regarding Jas that aren't in the Wiki that I found ingame, but uh... I don't have access to them. Maybe I should start screenshotting stuff lol.

Like once again... I get that not everyone can be an open book, but keep in mind that Shane is supposed to be a marriage candidate. How do you root for a man like him if his honesty is something even the game can't really keep consistent (which doesn't help as his 14 heart event sort of has a relapse scare that the game has to awkwardly back down from). Isn't this like important information? Should they matter way more than just one bizzarely flippant line about how he sees Marnie and Jas as family... yet Jas's parents like... don't exist to him? He doesn't even mention them at his infamous Cliff event.

Like I get this is supposed to be about Dusty, not Shane, and I apologize if I am sort of derailing this thread, but this always seriously bugged me.
