I used Krita and a Wacom tablet. You only have an ipad though, right?

I only have a iPad I use procreate for drawing but I could use flipaclip for animating

That's what a real person would say. The only thing I use AI for is generating extremely disturbing images.

You've been wanting to try it, but you also said it would be difficult. When you're drawing the same thing over and over it's better to pick a style that's easy for you to use
