First tried sloopy but couldn't arrange it nicely, so switched to hilltop, and immediately liked it.
I like the natural separations, perfect when you son't like fences. Also I like to leave place for wilderness in the farm, with trees left to grow. With hilltop such wild zones cannot spread too much.
But now at my 4th year I start to lack space, especially for new buildings. I had to sacrifice my wild forest to build a pond :'(, and will never build Slime hutch which is too ugly anyway.

When it comes out for console I'm going to use the Beach Farm. I never do much planting anyway, the fact that there is a 10x20 area of regular soil was already bigger than I usually used. So its kinda perfect. Endgame the island farm works like a greenhouse too. The Beach Farm gives tons of space and I like me some fishing ponds. To me game completion isn't about mega profit. It's about creating a beautiful Farm I can show off to my imaginary friends.
Before the Beach Farm came out my go to were mostly the Forest Farm and sometimes the Hilltop Farm
