What was your first legendary fish? (Spoilers?)

Confused

Rancher
(Spoilers, probably.)

So back in like my first ever play-through, I went into the sewers and fished in the green sludge. I caught the radioactive carp fish legendary!

It was so funny cause I had no idea legendary fish were even a thing.

Does anyone else remember catching their first legendary fish? :fish:

The Angler

because it's the easiest of them to reel in. That was years ago before the 1.5 upgrade, and I don't even remember if the Mutant even existed.

Me too! The Glacierfish is not bad either.

They always remind me of the three-eyed radioactive fish in the Simpsons.

Glacierfish tbh, I was playing my first file on mobile, didn’t know bait or tackle was a thing so I was practically using a bamboo rod.

Didn’t even know buff food influenced bar size because I thought levels didn’t go above 10 for skills.

Surprisingly it only took 2 days to catch, I got an easy pattern and did it, I was very Surprised and only now do I realize how annoying the fish was and how lucky I was to get it so easy.

It’s still my favourite fish because of this and I’ll gladly argue why it’s the hardest legendary and arguably the hardest fish overall.

Nonetheless catching it with a bamboo rod without tackle is no small feat!
The changing pattern is why I never get frustrated anymore when I fail to reel the fish in. I know, at some point it will get tired and finally behave like a fish should behave.
I agree that it's the hardest legendary, but I think that lava eel and octopus can occasionally be just as hard.

I personally find lava eel and octopus much easier though it’s the fact that they are usually annoying to get on the line which makes them objectively a “worse” fish to catch.
At least pre caldera

I finally got level 10 fishing!

... And I have completely failed to catch two legendary fish, the one in the sewers and the one by the eastern dock on the tide pool beach. They were like yo-yos! Just when I thought I was getting the hang of fishing ...
They are hard to catch! If you didn't yet, try using food that adds +4 or +3, and then keep repeating until you get one that is a little lazy.

I'm level 9 fishing and just caught my first ever legend fish crimsonfish and the beach by old mariner area noreast just fishing for sea fish and I got it. It's sitting in a chest on my farm. Not sure what to do with it. I have a fishing mod skiptheminigame on but still so happy.

Yes, also using a Fishing Tackle that buffs aspects of Fishing can help. Some people use the Cork Bobber and some use the Trap Bobber. I've used both and like the Trap a bit better.

You may already have 5 Dishes O' The Sea (+3 Fishing Buff) from completing the Specialty Fish Bundle at the Community Center. This is what I save them for: the Legends! One each-- hey, no pushing!

Or you can Cook Seafoam Pudding (+4 Fishing Buff) since you got the recipe at Fishing Level 9. You can also buy one from Pierre at the Dance of the Moonlight Jellies but at 5000g, maybe not... Instead catch a Squid to put in a Fish Pond, and catch a few Midnight Carp and Flounder to stock up, or create Ponds for them, too.

Easy Seafoam Pudding and easier Fishing!

Mutant Carp. It was with my first farmer and I was not a big fan of fishing at the time, quite the opposite. As I'm a completionist player, I wanted to catch all the fishes nonetheless and the legendaries were the only ones missing. I began by catching Mutant Carp because it was the one accessible at the time (Spring, non raining).

I can't remember what my FIRST one was. That was way too many years ago for this old brain. But I started over with a new save in the Fall of last year for my YT channel. I was fishing one evening and caught a crimson fish! The funny thing about that is in my first save, the crimson fish was the last one I needed for the fish all fish requirement. So I found it ironic it was the first one I got on the new play through.

Mine was the glacierfish and it was awful. I used seafoam pudding, cork bobber and it took me a lot of time to catch that thing. After I caught it I felt so proud. I still have the screenshot
I had tried everything on that last fish. Took all kinds of suggestions from the good folks here and nothing worked. I finally went back to my regular fishing stuff: regular bait and cork bobber. Took a few days but I got it!

Cool that you got a screen shot! I forget to do that ALL the time for special moments.

WOW! You got the Glacierfish first?? That is awesome. Some find it to be tougher than the Legend itself, IMO it's at least as difficult. If you can nab the Glaciertoothygrinboy, then you can catch anything.

One thing to make up for not getting those Legend screenshots is choosing the Qi Quest to catch the Legend IIs and screencap those. The Fish are equally as hard as the originals and just as much of an accomplishment to catch.

I never screencapped any of the Legends but I happened to start screencapping my Legend II catches for fun when I got that quest and partway thru realized I juuuust might be able to get them all in a day if I was real lucky. Here's how it went (you can skip the silly story and just see the screencaps at the end):

Glacierfish is my first and only legendary fish. I absolutely don't have the guts for the rest of them

I got a lazy mutant carp, so you might try giving that one a go if you managed one of the more difficult fish. The first one I hooked was all over the place, but the second was not that bad.

Fish is now sitting in a tank with a sea urchin proudly displaying the straw hat to proclaim my victory over Abigail that one year. We will ignore the fact that I probably should not be mixing saltwater and freshwater animals.
