The prismatic shard has a few purposes in the game, one quite sinister. Haley knows. Perhaps she made an offering to the shrine of selfishness. Perhaps her parents are traveling the world...as doves.

I believe you are on the right track but the truth might be even darker.

Haley and Emily's parents were aware of the shrine and wanted to be free and to get their nice house back for themselves. Haley found out and had to take some definitive measures. That's why she hates prismatic shards: they remind her of what she had to do to avoid being turned into a dove.

Haley keeps posting requests on the board for things like Refined Quartz for girl problems. Claiming girls would understand. (Well, I have to admit I am a bad girl and do not understand and keep thinking maybe she'd better talk to Harvey about some evidence-based medicine solutions...)

Anyways, maybe Prismatic Shards work kind of opposite Refined Quartz and Haley takes offence thinking you are proposing to do some mysterious girl-stuff to her?

Also, Harvey does not like cheese. I can understand not liking precious gems. But cheese.

Harvey doesn't like cheese for health reasons, but thanks for pointing that out. What a terrible life he must live.

As for Haley, after looking through the list of things you can make with refined quarts, I am not sure what she would use them for. Maybe a new camera lens? A garden pot for her sunflowers? Or maybe a lightning rod??

I'm not a big fan of cheese unless... It's sharp white or parmesan or similar kinds or in most meals. Not a fan of coffee either.

I think people mistake Haley for being super shallow due to her initial conversations with the new farmer. Her favorite gifts are very simple and cute actually. I think maybe she doesn’t like the prismatic shard because it would be expected of her and she says f that I’m much simpler and not as flashy as people think. Hehe
