1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

I spent the first few days of the next week just doing some farm chores. I tried catching midnight carp for Demetrius, but failed dismally. Caught a ton of chubs and got a ton of treasure chests that didn't contain anything useful.
Listened to Elliott's reading of his first novel. Was in town on time to finally make Lewis and Marnie jump out off the bush. Caught more chubs and some chests with junk and chub roe.
I visited the railroad area and had to listen to Wizard moaning about his failed marriage and his magic ink. Visited Krobus, caught a slimejack and got the amulet.

I managed to remember the Queen of Sauce rerun on Wednesday. Went to the desert to feed the sand dragon and catch a sandfish Lewis had requested. Got more stardrop tea out of the ticket machine. I know there's an iridium sprinkler waiting for me there, just two more tickets to go... Gave Raccoon and his wife the things they asked for, harvested my ancient fruits, put 5 gold-quality ancient fruits and my void carp into the bundle in the Joja building.
Then I put the amulet into the weird stone-bird-thing blocking the cave, got in, caught a void carp and gave the goblin some mayo. Stole the magic ink and got out as fast as I could.
I finally caught a single midnight carp and turned it into bait. Only got 5 pieces of bait out of it. This quest seems doomed. When I did get home, I discovered my dinosaur egg had hatched. I named the dino Fred. Maybe after Fred Flintstone? I really don't know, it just seemed right at the time.

Thursday was Jodi's birthday. I walked in on her popcorn-related argument with Kent, then came back in to give her a diamond. I went to see Willy and left all the materials needed to repair the boat. Went to see Clint to open geodes and boxes, got nothing special out of any of them. I'm still short one mineral and 8 artifacts.
I played a game with Sebastian and Sam, and ended with a "B" rating. I never manage to get an "A". (Did use the front door this time, but it didn't seem to make a difference...)
On the way back I popped into Emily and Haley's house, and helped Haley open a jar. I always seem to be too late to catch Emily at home.
I managed to catch 5 midnight carp, so maybe I can do it after all!

I decided to go to Ginger Island on Friday. I know I was going to leave the farm in a bit of a mess, but I thought I was going to be back on time to fix it.
Once on the island I had no problems finding the first 10 walnuts, so the parrots chased the turtle away and I could get to my farm. I found more walnuts there, but not enough to unlock the farmhouse. I did talk to Birdie and got her photograph.
The next day I had the parrots repair the bridge so I could free Professor Snail. I mined all the stones, found all the nearby walnuts and decided to go home because I knew it was Abigail's birthday. So far I have 33 walnuts.
Got home later than I had hoped, but I did find Abigail. Then I realised I was running out of time to get the midnight carp for Demetrius, so I rushed over to the lake instead of fixing the mess on my farm. I did manage to catch the last 4 carp, and also managed to barely make it to my house on time. I didn't quite make it to the bed, I collapsed on top of my cat.

On Sunday I got a note from Abigail to come to her room. I got my Farming Mastery first, did some farm work and then hid in the tearoom hoping to get that cut scene out of the way. However, it was Sunday and Abby was home late from the saloon, so it didn't work.
I did remember my recipe from QoS, though.

I got the 100 pumpkin challenge in Fall and am hustling to make it. I really haven't expanded as much as I usually do, so it'll be a challenge to meet them, especially since I am maintaining my habit of constantly planting wheat to build up hay reserves for when I get animals. Need to remember to save a pumpkin for Abigail; I forgot to do so for her birthday and wound up giving her a beer, so now she's my first five-star friend in this save. (Haley and Emily have been tied for the lead for the entire game, but I also keep giving Clint, Pierre, Harvey, and Gus beer or coffee to get them up. I like the idea of popping by when someone is working and giving them a refreshing beverage. I haven't tried giving Morris anything yet, though. (This is the Stardew Valley Expanded mod, so he's accessible.)
One minor clue for Stardew Expanded: Get Claire (the Joja clerk) to 6 hearts before you finish the community centre if you want her to stick around. (Martin, the teenager, keeps visiting the library so you have more chances with him.) Also, if you haven't already discovered this, a lot of things including some standard vanilla ones are locked behind being friends with Marlon.

I put a potato into a seed maker and somehow got an ancient seed. I honestly didn't know that it was possible to do that!
I also had a wedding anniversary event with my husband. (Ridgeside Village mod gave me the ability to do so)
and I got an iridium turtle and named it Piccolo

Thanks! I run into Claire ocasionally because she appears to sleep on the bus, but I've only seen Martin at the library. I talk to Marlon every time I see him. Definitely going to keep going slow on this if there's that much to find!

I was worried about the 100 pumpkin challenge, but wound up selling 119 of them, plus giving two to Abigail. Spending my winter upgrading tools, fishing, and getting gold in the mines for more sprinklers. Still haven't built any farm buildings yet, but I'm trying to clear trees so I have options.

During the last thunderstorm I lost one of mystic trees to a lightning strike, despite having 18 lightning rods. So I decided to rejigger and expand my lightning rod area. Had to sacrifice part of my mahogany grove, but it was really sort of overly large anyway. Now I have 32 lightning rods - that should (over)do it!

do mystic trees produce anything when you tap them?

The second day of summer ended up fishing, fishing, and more fishing, with breaks to run to the shipping bins. There was a challenge on that would be best won by fishing at every opportunity. Also, there was the trout derby approaching in just under 3 weeks. More people in Cindersap during Rowan's day out, but it might prove worth it if they remembered to actually use some of their trout at home for targeted bait...

On Wednesday, Rowan was pleased they got to the mines early in the afternoon for a change... only to be mobbed twice by lava bats, the second time without a staircase anywhere in sight. They healed, ate, and then got too bold right after being cornered by shadow brutes when they saw a strange slime with a bouncing stardrop-shaped thing on its head. They forgot to grab another potion, so when a lava bat burst out of a hole behind them just as the slime jumped... they fell, too dazed to move, then heard an unlikely soothing whistling.

They woke fully a while later, surprised to find themselves in the mine entrance cavern. Linus was looking them over, wrapping up one of the wounds on their arm with a bandage that, despite being from a grubby looking bag from Linus's tent, was itself hospital clean. He gave them a reassuring talk, then walked off, whistling the same soft whistle. It really was soothing. Soothing enough to calm cave monsters? If so, it was a neat trick, but explained why he had no weapons but came in and out of the caverns unscathed.

They might want to learn that trick sometime, if so, but the idea of asking him was too scary, and besides, it was somehow already midnight. They scrambled home by minecart, and only then found the claw-marks in their bag. Some of the money had spilled. No, a LOT of money. $15,000, along with a few gems - not too bad a loss of those, though. And the solar essence they were collecting specifically. And the only cave carrot they'd found- since they never remembered to dig on a soft ground level. Well, the solar essence would be the thing to ask for help with.

They did, perhaps foolishly, linger long enough to dump some things in the sell bin, and some of the gold into the furnaces, and switch the coffee in the kegs. Then they squeezed in under Suzuchka - how a cat could take up so much bed, they never understood - and finally let the aches and pains fade away.

Forced another new cycle in the cellar as the starfruit wine reached silver quality. Another week, another harvest of ancient fruit, and another cycle of wine for the kegs. Trying to keep on top of all the cycles, but stuff is slipping through my fingers by one day here and there.

Writing goes well though. Building up a buffer on the 2nd fanfic novel before I start publishing it.

Monday was Sandy's birthday. But first, I had to accept a sculpture from Leah. And then I had to water some of my plants, because I still don't have all the sprinklers I need.
At the last moment I remembered to get the pass to the casino out of the woodpile.

After saying hello to Emily and Sandy I gave Sandy her birthday flower and crossed the dessert to drop off some things in my chest in the mine.
I then went to the casino and won enough coins to buy a rarecrow and a top hat, and even had a little bit left over for some warp totems.

Tuesday was the Stardew Valley Fair. I spent the morning sorting my chests and watering my plants, then went to the Fair to beat Pierre with my dazzling display. Bought the prize ticket, talked to everyone and went home. I actually managed to load some machines before going to bed.

I wasted most of Wednesday just cleaning up around the farm and visiting Clint with a boatload of geodes that didn't really yield anything useful. I picked up a quest. One of the options was to ship taro roots, but I can't really do that yet. So I picked up another omelet quest for Gus. That one was easy, I've been neglecting my chickens so the auto-grabber was full.

Thursday was Marnie's birthday. She also requested a super cucumber, so I brought her the fish and some jelly as a birthday gift. I brought Birdie's photograph to Kent and then took Kent's tomato salt to Gus.

I snuck into Caroline's tearoom just in time before the store closed and came out again for Abigail's spirit board game. It got awkward... 🤣

Abigail came to the house on Friday to try to explain herself, but I felt she just dug herself a deeper hole. 😂

After watering my crops and clearing out my inventory I decided to ask Robin to build me a fish pond so I have a place for my sturgeons. I need the caviar - both for my shipping and for the movie theater bundle. I really don't want to have a whole lot of fish ponds on this farm, I'm a bit over processing roe.

I took the Stardew Valley Rose to Sandy, who found a remote on a shelf and gave it to me. I didn't get very far into the mines, I'm just not having any luck with shafts or ladders.

On Saturday I went to George with the remote, to Wizard with the arctic crystal Georg gave me, and then to Willy with Wizrard's Wriggly Worm.
I now have Birdie's locket. 🎉 🎉

Sunday was Robin's birthday, but I decided to go to Ginger Island instead. I first put a sturgeon into my new pond, and then went to the beach. On my way down, I went to visit Elliott to watch him play the piano. That made me think of Emily's cut-scene that I hadn't seen yet, so I went back to visit her first. I watched her psychedelic dance, and then went to the island.

I had brought one of my sprinklers and some seeds, so I set up a little patch for the gourmand frog. 🐸

I hunted around for a few more golden walnuts. Managed the Simon Says game in only two tries, which is a record for me. I had enough walnuts to build the farmhouse. It was a bit late to go back, so I decided to sleep there.
