1.6 Update What happened in your game today?

Very informative reddit post. This is where Treasure Totems might come in handy, if not for the fact that Moss is hard to come by. Still, at least that gives extra Moss a worthy use.
As for the Desert Festival's 1/47 item, I don't see much issue, as we need all the Free Cacti, right? How many are there, 16? So if we go to Emily 3 days times 16 years, decent chance we get the Shirt anyway. There's several unique random hats she gives too.
I just got the Laurel Wreath Crown, finally. 😆 Still missing the Joja Cap. The predictor estimate shows it on the Tuesday... in 19 years. Well I guess that's plenty of time to look for the Tye Dye Shirt and Red Buttoned Vest. And a Void Frog. And a level 5 Fairy...

Can't you reroll for those?
Technically yes, and I did try for a while. Got bored - they seem to be extremely rare. I usually get a handful of trinkets every cave run, plus I'm still hunting other things that might turn up from monster drops or crates etc, so it's more fun for me that way than hours of rerolling.

Lol Treasure Totem is like one of the things I crafted and then quickly chested away. That's super OP! I did not know about this crazy summoning until now. Would this or shaking trees be more effective? I haven't worked out the odds and I also have not yet tested if shaking the same tree can give different results... but shaking trees require like very little attention, you can just hold A.

I also wonder if panning this can result in different cosmetic items after soft resetting in the same day (to preserve items). I know panning pre 1.6 is deterministic and not subject to change, but I don't know about the details post 1.6 and specifically related to cosmetic items. I will make a post about this later so I can gather all my thoughts and questions in one place and have them answered.

Yeah I'm trying to min max this because I don't have a lot of time at hands for pure vanilla odds. I was thinking of this set up for farming the shirts:
- Player 1 primarily panning in the Dig Site with Iridium Pan, Ginger Ale*, Magic Rock Candy
- When there's a drought of glittering spots, spam the Treasure Totem / shake trees to not waste time just waiting
- Player 2 can just hold A to shake trees (?) Low odds aside, low odds is better than no odds.

I'm also not as concerned about the Desert shirt either... it feels less time-consuming than the former RNG, but maybe I'm missing something the OOP from Reddit had experienced. I wonder if the one cactus per festival year limit is per player or per save? I'm actually right around spring so I'll test trying to bum multiple cacti using different multiplayers... and also different outfits from Emily... From my experience, my Switch crash after loading in 2 additional players after the update, so there's a hard limit there, but does not hurt to explore that option.

If I recall correctly, the cactuses are built out of two or three pieces each, so the total number of possible combinations is in the hundreds. But at least they don't stack.
Dang so not the 16 in https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Desert_Festival#Free_Cactus. They are all so cute lol, I want them all - but I don't know if I want hundreds and hundreds of them
Still absorbing all the 1.6 updates, sounds like I will be dealing with a lot of Springs in my future - not even Welwick can predict why the player's hibernation lasts three-quarters of the year!

NOW it says "Monster Slayer Hero: Yes"
Whatever.
Harvested my Rotten Plant today and didn't get the variant I assumed was guaranteed. Next year I'll leave out 10 Jack-O-Lanterns :/
I tried to leave out like a bunch of JoL as well some time ago and it gave me the same variants (but I could still just be unlucky), what I know to be the tried-true method is to place Solid Gold Lewis, I've gotten both variants with that.

Are you predicting on the console lol, if so I would be curious. Afaik, there hasn't been one for console yet but I'm also curious if console vs. pc difference still exists because I see CA has put out a toggle to use "Legacy Seeds".

No, I'm just on pc. (I think the most recent console I own is a PS2 - the original noisy brick one, not the slim quiet later version. 😆 )

It could very well be in the thousands. I'm only interested in how many different ones I can get (before they start repeating). Not sure how it works, I wonder if anyone knows?

I tried that with my Solid Gold Lewis but got another regular rotten plant. And the Secret Shop to get it back isn't appearing, probably because the version isn't updated or something idk. So I'm down an item.
Off subject, but, how are you on quality tree saplings? I now have all 8 Gold and Iridium Fruit Tree Saplings, just waiting 1 season for my Silvers to mature..

I've literally not heard about that either until now lol - I'm on the cusp of getting Iridium on all so I guess it's time to start again. 3 years should be good because there's A LOT of long years ahead of some of the things I need to do still!

Is the Solid Gold Lewis not in Mayor Lewis or Marnie's room? I thought that's how it worked in the past, but I *still* have not read the full changelog lol, I'm trying to play through it first before I catch all the gaps.

I'm currently trying to grow big crops, and I have failed my objective to grow 3 wintermelons last Winter (only got 1), so trying again this year. Just got the Qi fruit quest so going to hope I get 3 large qi crops before Spring ends.

Wait, what does giant crops have to do with anything? I've had over 20 giant pumpkins on my farm before, but, I thought you were just trying to chest everything. Are you just growing giant crops for fun?

Yeah chesting items is one objective, but really my goal is pretty vaguely just try to see or experience as much as CA has coded lol - either intentional or unintentional items.

Anything he can offer me, I'll try to put on my farm lol. Right now, I still have not gotten a meteorite yet, which is surprising considering I'm already on Y5 on this save.
I also did a bunch of different colored slimes that had different yields, and I'm also trying for broken fences, and baby animals (but the latter is a bit more unethical).

I’m not sure how the hoarders club survive in this game. You are not alone, but if you save everything how do you survive in the beginning year or two or do you start saving after that?
Hoarding just means not trashing or selling stuff I don't find valuable.

It doesn't at all change gameplay, I'm just not selling items that don't sell for anything anyway like many do to clear chests up. Later on such as in this save I may go about with the explicit aim to collect items, in which case I don't have need to sell them and am just doing it because I want to.
