Weather effects on player

Rainy and wintry weather seems to have no effect on energy levels - not even sunny weather for that matter.

For added realism rainy and wintry weather could slowly sap the players energy, which could be alleviated by an umbrella or protective clothing. Whereas, sunny weather could have positive effects on energy levels.

There could even be an indicator of the current weather buff or debuff affecting the player.

Furthermore, there could be a setting to enable/disable weather effects to give people the option.

There is a mod for it! But I want it vanilla!

Thanks for the tip, Lilan.

That's a good idea, Ludde. Maybe windy weather could have some effect on the player too, like slowing them down.

I just discovered this mod that adds an optional wetness system that drains stamina when the player is wet. Very cool:

I am not sure how I feel about this idea...
But if realized I would like to see the idea combined with seasonal clothes. If you have/sew the right clothes for windy, snowy... weather you have no negative impact. Otherwise you do.

I'm definitely for the idea, as long as there are clothing/food/ring options to block the effects. However, I would ask that there are outfits available to buy from the start of the game that can be used. I also think it should be part of a broader update that also includes seasonal outfits for the villagers, and an improved dressing system. I want the clothing option we get at the start menu. We already have this for hair, gender, and name, at the Wizard, so just have that for clothing. The Dresser is helpful but it's just annoying to remove a shirt, put it in the dresser, take a shirt out of the dresser, put it in inventory, and then equip it. Most life sim games do the doll dress up visual when picking clothing, and I think Stardew should follow.

An umbrella could maybe be an alternative hat item. It's not a hat, but it's held above the head. The hat mouse could sell it. Bonus points if the umbrella automatically disappears when indoors, or when it's sunny. I don't like hats, so I'd just have the umbrella equipped at all times, and it wouldn't be a visual thing except when I'm out in the rain. A small issue that could happen from this is the visual of holding an umbrella while also holding an item. The simple thing to do is that the umbrella disappears when swinging an axe, or whatever, but the protective effects are still in place.

I agree that it's probably best to have an option to disable weather effects, because I'm sure some people wouldn't want them.

Wind effects could not just slow you down, but also speed you up when going with the wind. Riding horse could let you ignore wind as well.

Take this...

...then I also like to have a windrose/weathervane as a craftable item to install infront of my house... 🍃🌪

A big hat to block the sun, sunglasses, or picking up a batch of sunscreen from Pierre's to prevent sunburn in Summer Sunny days? It could impact your health a bit or just make your farmer grouchy.
Raincoat keeps you dry and boots let you walk at regular speed, snowshoes or skies for speed in snow?
If the hat mouse wants to sell anything, I support the tiny enterprise.

If your gonna do that put in a grime system too. Like seriously wash you clothes people. If too much grime is on you you move slower and talking to people may lower your friendship. Maybe include different places put a hidden status on you. Like people comment on the sand on your clothes in the desert. Smelling smokie if you are at the volcano or level 90+ in the mines, or asking what died if you get splattered by the puke ghost
