Switch Treasure hunter tackle not working?

I went fishing in the ocean with a dressed spinner for 1 in game hour and got two treasure chests. The tackle broke so I ran into the shop and tried the treasure hunter tackle. I then fished for 6 in game hours, wearing out the tackle (<5% left), and didn't get a single treasure chest. Sure it could be random chance, but I get treasure chests pretty regularly (pirate). I'm playing on switch 2.

That's more likely statistical anomaly rather than it not working, especially over such a small sample size (and with the affect being so small overall).

If you do want to maximize your chances at treasure chests I would recommend the pirate profession and magnet bait which combined do 6x what a treasure hunter tackle will (and can be paired with it). Good luck days also help out a bit, though if you're just hoping for treasure on the side I wouldn't make the lucky day the deciding factor on whether you fish or not.
