Solved Tool Upgrades Not Applying (hoe, watering can)

Hi!

I've been playing on Switch and love the game! I have upgraded my hoe and watering cans either to gold or iridium, but they still only apply to the square in front of my character and no other squares around me. I'm not sure this is expected behavior, as I haven't seem other benefits to upgrading these tools. Other tools like the pickaxe upgrade just fine.

Any thoughts appreciated. Thanks for such a great game!

Just to double check - are you holding the button down when you activate the tool? The longer you hold it, the further the effect extends depending on how far you have the tool upgraded.
