100% shafts!! they really help with getting down faster and i like them for the calico desert festival when i have a level related mine quest!

Shafts are faster so better but you can skip past the special Treasure Chests at Level 100, 200, or 300 with a Shaft so maybe use Ladders only at Levels 90-99, 190-199, 290-299. Yes, I did some key field work on this. Skill issue.

You can do it with Staircases if you focus on putting the Stairs down and descending as much as possible. I've reached Floor 301 on Skull Caverns this way but I don't exclusively focus on putting down those Stairs as I'm also there to have fun. So when I see a lot of Gems or occasionally Ore, I Bomb the area and grab everything that drops and then head down another level. As I only go on High Luck days along with Luck Buffs (

Lucky Lunch or

Magic Rock Candy are the best), the Bomb will usually uncover a Ladder down or a Shaft if I'm real lucky.

But for me the real reason to get down all those levels is not to go deep, instead it's for the random Treasure Rooms. The more Levels you load, the higher number of Treasure Rooms you find. The Higher Luck, the more Treasure Rooms you find. Hence why I go there on a Lucky Day with Luck Buff food and I'm mostly slapping down Staircases to descend through more Levels as fast as possible. Until a shiny Sparkly thing catches my eye

and I get distracted and grab it! Both are fun, so I do both!

Little late but can't skip past 100, just the 200 and 300 chests.

Not being able to skip past floor 100 means you can have some funny interactions like a shaft dropping you just one floor
