stardrop not detecting SMAPI

I'm trying to use stardrop as a mod manager as idk how to really mod or manage mods myself or really even HOW to mod, this is my first time even trying, I've been following this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=61O59SFVuGw&t=293s but when I go and click "File" at the top, and add a zip file for a mod I downloaded, I get this message " Unable to Locate SMAPI-latest.txt! SMAPI is required to run successfully at least once for Stardrop to detect game details.".

I don't understand, I did download SMAPI and it even runs it when I go to "File" "Run SMAPI". To make this more confusing, when I click the message away, it showed my mod in the menu?! Like it did download it?! I really don't understand.

okay so, I just started it up to see if it would work, and it did. Mods worked fine. And now downloading other mods I'm no longer getting the error message... odd,but I guess the fix was to just start it anyway? Still don't understand it.
