Linux Softlock after clicking the multiplayer game mode if you have no friends on Steam

Note: I found this a while back, and now have some friends on Steam, so I can't easily reproduce it anymore.

Found this on Linux but may affect other platforms that use Steam too.

1. If you try to start a multiplayer game, Steam's friend selection window appears.
2. If you have no friends, your only option here is to close the window.
3. All methods of closing the window result in Stardew opening the window again immediately.
4. The only way I found to get out of this loop was to kill Stardew.
