Good timezone.
I came here from the official SDV Discord server to bring up what I think is… an unintended feature (or bug) — when I try to gift an NPC a skill book such as the Price Catalogue to Pierre, even when you align yourself close to him then hover over his sprite so that the cursor turns to a gift icon, the player would proceed to “consume” the book instead of gifting it to him.
I suggest that skill books should prompt the players next time upon interacting with them whether they want to use it or not. Or, prioritize gifting the thing when next to a villager NPC. This becomes annoying to unknowing players who have done a lot during one in-game day and then attempt to gift a skill book to an NPC that likes or loves the item, only for the farmer to use up said book, either wasting the item or the whole day-worth of save, requiring them to restart an entire day. This is doubly frustrating if the farmer has already learned the power of the book prior.
Hopefully, this will be addressed and fixed in the upcoming 1.7 update, unless it’s actually intentional. Others, for some reason, somehow have experienced the total opposite effect. There have who assumed it is due to the control tweaks from 1.6 that performing these interactions have bugged out since day one of the latest version update.
