Silly Mistakes You've Made?

I feel like there's something everyone's missed, and then when you stumbled on it you felt so silly.

For me, I didn't realize until I had upgraded to a golden watering can that I needed to hold down for longer, to be able to water multiple spots. I thought upgrading meant it used less energy to water :laugh:

In my first-ever save, I made the classic mistake of keeping all my legendary fish...

In my fridge. They were all turned into Sashimi, and I didn't realize until I had already slept and saved. ;-;

Another thing I did was never upgrade any of my tools, only my axe and pick. I had NO IDEA that upgraded tools would come with a buff.

I didn't know the upgraded Hoe tilled multiple spots.
I didn't know Weapons had a second attack or a block.
I didn't know you could stand on one crop spot and Till/Water/Fertilize/Harvest the block of 9 adjacent ones without moving.
I didn't know the Sword and Scythe don't use Energy. Ended up accidentally using my Axe or Rod and getting Exhausted all the time.
I didn't know you couldn't marry Caroline.

And loads of others long since forgotten. I mega-noobed my way through my first save and it was so great!

did you try do marry her??? and how did you not notice she was sharing a bed with pierre

So I hadn't quite put it together that she was married to Pierre because I would always see her outside and the few times I went to the store it always seemed that it was closed or the ladies were exercising. Once I noticed the social tab showed who was single, well I got the idea but I still tried to give her a bouquet. You know, just in case.

Yeah it didn't work. :defeated:

Pretty much all of these have appeared in other threads, but here’s Jayamos’s Greatest Hits Collection.

My first night I couldn’t get in my front door and passed out on the porch. Then I learned about right clicking.
When I finally started mining I was so bad at combat that a couple of green slimes wrested my newfound Rusty Sword from me and I had to scythe my way down. In fact, it’s only recently that I accidentally discovered I could have saved a slot and used my equally rusty pickaxe.
Deciding it was worth braving multiple Serpents for a cart-worth of coal in Skull Cavern. I don’t remember what I lost, but I could have bought the coal for less.
Bombing the front porch while checking the mail. At least I no longer keep my chests there. Misty the Horse will never be the same…
Forgetting to buy strawberry seeds for the next year at the Egg Fest. Why to hoard strawberries for seed.

Innumerable things forgotten, kegs misloaded, shops traipsed to when shut, etc., etc., etc.

My most frequent mistake is forgetting to make strawberry seeds before Spring starts in year 2 and later.
I've also:
Accidentally bombed my porch in the morning, either from selecting the wrong thing when trying to put stuff away, or checking the mail.
Forgetting that the season ends on the 28th and spent energy watering crops that day
Same forgetfulness about the day, but forgetting to pick the flowers I've had planted for the bee houses.

I mentioned in another thread how long it took me to figure out how to bait my fishing rod. I just totally missed that you have to do it with your inventory open.

It also took me until starting a second save file (beach farm!) to realize that the big chest recipe was something I could buy from Robin and suddenly fix a lot of my hoarding storage issues. And then I didn't realize that you can just drop the big chest on an existing chest and don't have to do nearly as much shuffling around of stuff as I did.

It took me four saves to find out how to properly fish... so don't worry. And what you say about chests, I realized that more or less in my current (5th) game...

I thought the cave on your farm was the mining cave
i accidentally sold all of my wood so it Took me forever to get more
and lastly I died but the hospital fee took all of my money so I had to restart the day and I had gotten my first Diamond that day 😔
