silly little idea

I think being able to process Sunflower Seeds would be a great way of implementing a feature like this!

Sunflowers have such a fun mechanic, so I think adding Sunflower Spread to encourage players to plant them would be fun.

It would be sort of like Caviar, it's quite specialised but it sells for a high price.

Caviar sells for 500g (700G w/ Artisan), so maybe Sunflower Spread could be in that price range too?

Although I don't see why Hazelnut Spread couldn't be added at the same time, so which NPC do you think would love it? Hate it?

Maybe it could be a universal like, similar to tree fruits. I would expect Leah to love it, maybe Vincent too.

Maybe you could put the Hazelnut Spread together with bread and a Grape to make a PB&J. OK an H&J, whatever. And when you eat it, you leave Hazelnut and Grape/Jelly colored crumbs behind you for a bit after eating it, maybe even tracking some Grape behind you as you walk which disappears like the footsteps in snow do. A Loved Gift for Vincent and Jas, maybe Leo. And probably disliked by most Villagers except a few like Abigail and Sam who are a bit more in touch with their inner child, they can Like it.

Just a bit of fun more than anything else.

It would be hilarious if it were one of the Wizard's fave gifts too! He'd say his "arcane significance" line about it.

I like it. Haley would love it. Emily too. Lewis would hate it, George would hate it. Shane would hate it. Elliot would like it.

you can process sunflower seeds but in a different way, you can put them into and oil maker to make oil, you can do the same with the sunflowers themselves and corn, only difference is processing time.

Yes, that's right! Thank you for reminding me! :D

But personally, if I don't buy my Oil from Pierre, I just use Corn. It takes longer, but I don't use Oil in any large quantity.

And given that Corn is by far the easier crop to produce, I think more uses for Sunflowers would be great. Hazelnuts too, they could do with some additional products (other than Roasted Hazelnuts, Stuffing, Brown Overalls and Fall Seeds).

I just think that both of these items have such interesting mechanics attached to them, what with Maple Trees having a chance of dropping Hazelnuts in the second half of Fall. I would totally plant a Maple Tree forest somewhere just to harvest Hazelnuts, so that I could make some nice cash at the end of Fall!

But it gets better.

Sunflower Seeds are purchasable at either Pierre's, JojaMart (for, would you believe it, cheaper than at Pierre's), and at the Night Market, and then have a chance to drop when you harvest a Sunflower. I think being able to buy the seeds, process them, and make a profit seems a little funky (although Honey sold at the Oasis already does this), so maybe only seeds that come from harvesting Sunflowers could be processed.

There is already a difference between harvested and bought seeds, because they have different sell prices (source). Does anyone know whether they stack or not? Maybe there could be a "fresh" version, that, just like for the Qi's Cuisine quest, could run out after a certain amount of time?

I don't know, I just feel that fun game mechanics like this often get overlooked because players can't make a profit/don't have a reason to utilise them. Capitalising on these would be great, and you don't have to add whole new systems to the game.

Yes, they have different sprites too and harvesting a sunflower is not a guarantee to get a seed so you usually end up with a net loss of about 1/3 whichc isnt't horrid but if you factor in the low sell price it makes it th eonly reasonable way.
And yeah, I wasn't saying it was abad idea to make a spread, just stating that the game already has a use for sunflowers and seeds in terms of processing.

Oh cool! That backs up this idea even further. Thanks for clarifying!

I know, and like I said, I appreciate it. :D
