Windows Shadowy Blur and Odd Sound After Passing Out Indoors – Documenting on Behalf of a Friend

Hi all — I’m posting this on behalf of a friend who had a strange and (so far) undocumented experience during her solo, completely unmodded Stardew Valley playthrough. I'm not the player myself, but after hearing the story and confirming the install is clean, I’m very curious and wanted to share it here to see if anyone else has experienced something similar or can offer any insight.


Here’s what she described, word for word:

“I passed out in my house, and right after that, I saw this black-and-white shadowy blur on the far side of the screen. It moved around a little and made a weird ‘woooah’ sound. It was super brief but definitely there. I’ve never seen anything like it.”

Key Details:

• 100% vanilla install, no mods ever installed
• Solo playthrough, not in multiplayer
• Happened inside the farmhouse
• Triggered right after she passed out (likely at or just after 2AM)
• The shadowy figure moved slightly, made a strange sound, then vanished
• Her husband also tried searching online and came up empty — we couldn’t find any references to similar events or bugs

It doesn’t match any of the known rare events (Strange Capsule, Witch, Owl Statue, TV “???” channel, etc.). Those are all well-documented and occur outdoors. This one was indoors and doesn’t seem to follow any recognised pattern.


My goal here is just to document what happened and see if anyone else has encountered it — whether it’s a glitch, a corrupted asset, or something deeper. I can ask for a backup of the save file from that night in case it’s helpful for further investigation.
