Personally I don't see the pleasure in speedrunning a game like this, but to each their own. I'd rather savor and sip it like a fine wine.

I agree, I notice there are videos of speed runners competing in SDV and the thought just fills me with stress. It would be neat to see a competition that some how upheld the relaxing cycles that is SDV.
Also this is a subject that I hadn't thought about concerning SDV. I agree if you don't want to drink in a game you shouldn't have to. thanks for bringing this up.

Could always use Cider instead of wine, although you'd be hard pressed to find a drink you can make out of wheat or hops that isn't alcoholic, probably.

Actually there is. Finnish "kotikalja" (I found a translation "kvass" for that -- "family ale" might be good. It may have a little alcohol (under 1%) but it is commonly served as a "non-alcoholic feast beverage" here. Also a low-alcohol mead is common here (it's more a kind of lemonade), especially for the 1:th May (which is a spring carnival in Finland - a feast for students as well as for workers). Oh yeah, for many it means heavy drinking, but it may also mean lemonade, balloons and doughnuts.
