PC Rarecrow bug? #help

Hi I'm new here, I am on year 6 winter the 18th (day after the night market event is over) I have gotten all of the rarecrows and the day after getting #3 from the casino I woke up to no letter for the recipe for the deluxe scarecrow.
So I walked around my farm and looked through all the ones i have/have gotten and i don't know where I put/where the #8 (from donating 40 artifacts to the museum) scarecrow is at all and upon checking the wiki, i see you can buy it from the night market... smh.
i did check the trader the first two nights, but the third day I was in the skull mines thinking i didn't need to attend it again for the 18th or so time. Even if I somehow lost it/etc. shouldn't that still count? Thought I'd ask here any input helps 😊 If so i will have to wait another in-game year.. will that even fix this issue is another question. I am just a bit sad and confused.

If you don’t have it in a chest or placed somewhere, it won’t count. So, unfortunately you’re going to have to wait another year and buy it back from the Magic Shop Boat (the one that sells seeds). It should fix the problem; I’ve seen an extremely similar scenario play out before! In my case it was most probably destroyed by weeds, so maybe that happened to you as well?

Hope this helps!

I tend to leave my rewards with Gunther. I don’t really want it all. Maybe check with Gunther and see if he has it? Collecting all the rarecrows trips me up regularly.

It's my first save so I remember grabbing it from
Gunther and swore it was on my farm so I'm sure it was from weeds speading. 😑
Thanks everyone! One more year ..

I had a lot of them in chests recently too, funny enough i had most of them put away since it's winter so im moving around everything for my end game.
It definitely got ruined because I haven't seen it in maybe 2 seasons on this year. Thanks!

It might be too late, but if you're on PC, the game keeps a backup save file that lets you revert back to the previous day - so if you're still on the 18th, you could go back to the 17th.
Of course this does unfortunately mean you would lose everything you originally did on the 17th.

To do this:
  • Open File Explorer and go to the file location %appdata%, then click on the Stardew Valley folder, then the Saves folder.
  • You should see a folder with a name that is your farm name (or your farmer's name, if created before 1.5) followed by a nine-digit number. Make a copy of this folder somewhere else, in case you screw up your save file you can revert the changes using that copy.
  • Open that folder and you will see four files, two of which have "_old" at the end - those are the backup files.
  • Delete the two files that do not have "_old" at the end.
  • Remove the "_old" from the names of the other two files.
  • Then, when you open Stardew, you should see that you've gone back to the previous day.

sure it's not hiding in a chest somewhere?

Does anyone know, is it possible to use the name exploit to get rarecrows? Buying a chicken and naming it with the rarecrow item number would be a lot easier than waiting a year.
