Radioactive Ore

Having trouble finding radioactive ore. I always keep challenge mode turned on via shrine on floor 120. Much more fun and tons of useful harder to accumulate materials like hardwood and monster loot and awesome bonus drops. Daily luck helps occasionally with the radioactive ore but not enough. I only get a few ores per visit usually about 3-5. Most days not any. Also use additional luck buffs of plus 1 or 2 via food. That’s all the wiki suggests. Am I missing something? Is it just that rare? I ideally want enough to create a decent amount of magic bait or and then enough to create several hoppers and heavy duty tappers. I’ve tried various floors but are some maybe better than others? What has worked for you?

Daily luck influences it a lot and luck buffs a fair bit so go on only the luckiest days, depth also matters a fair bit so if you can manage to get really deep in skull cvern while dangerous you'll see a lot

You can sometimes get a Radioactive Bar from the dangerous special slimes (the ones with a star antenna). Although if you want hoppers and magic bait, you can buy those directly with Qi Gems as well as crafting your own. If you have a Deconstructor, you can also scrap a hopper to get a Radioactive Bar and then use that to craft whatever.

Late edit: check you have the lvl5 mining perk that gives you +1 ore per vein. :pickaxe:

It's pretty rare; I think the accepted strat for farming it is just to repeatedly spam a small floor. You could theoretically even do this with the first floor (I never have just because it's boring). I usually get 5-8 ores out of a casual run through the dangerous mines, but I'm not optimized.

As FilthyGorilla said, this is one of those things where daily luck makes a very noticeable difference.

Other than that, repeatedly entering and exiting floor 1 of the mines on a good luck day until you get radioactive ore is probably the easiest (albeit boring) way. Yes, the chance of radioactive ore increases as you go down, but floor 1 is so easy to quickly reset and check that it makes up for that. (In case you're wondering, you can't get ore on floors that have an elevator, i.e. floors ending in 5 or 0)

Thanks everyone! These are very helpful ideas. I never thought to try the dangerous skull cavern. It’s pretty hard on normal anyways 😆. I do well on dangerous mines with galaxy sword and iridium tools, just not enough luck. Also re-entering same floors, never thought of that how silly of me. Great ideas. I know I can get them at the walnut room and have some cause of it, but used my gems stash for other things first. The WR tasks are so hard to finish and the ones I do well at seem to not come up often lol. I totally suck at the games within the game and the QI beans, and of course those show up all the time. 50 loved gifts in a week is hard even with my DH Harvey that’s only 7. There tons of liked gifts out there, but loved gifts are much harder. The 4 shards and extra dangerous DM is ok but never shows up for me. Oh well lol. It’s great fun anyways just trying. I love this game! The hoppers and bait aren’t necessary just help life be easier. The bait goes way too quickly too. I always use them first off now for the QI seasoning as it’s awesome but needs replaced frequently too. I finally got enough deconstructors. My absolute first gems went to the key to the town and horse flute, then Pierre’s list and these are lifesavers and total game changers. Again Nbd on the bait and hoppers though. Just would make things better and easier lol. Thanks again for extra suggestions everyone!

I always skip the 50 loved gifts task too, and Junimo cart (both the arcade games are far too frustrating for me). Usually I skip the Qi beans one as well - except I'm doing it right now, but only so I can add Qi fruit wine and jelly to my collection, and I only need 60 fruit for that plus Fairy Dust, I'm not going to try and grow 500.

Happy ore-hunting! :pickaxe:

If you stockpile rabbit feet, 50 loved gifts is hilariously easy. I think the easiest one by far is the prismatic grange, though. By the time I make it to the walnut room, I can do the quest two or three times before I start running out of random stuff to throw in the box.

The Qi Bean quest is cool if it shows up on 1 winter. The fields would otherwise be fallow, so why not? So how much is Qi fruit wine and jelly worth? I know the fruit itself is pretty worthless.

Wine is always 3 times the base sell price of the fruit, and jelly is always twice the base sell price + 50g.
So because the fruit only sells for 1g, the wine and jelly is also pretty worthless.

It's not the gifts themselves, it's having to find everyone to actually give them out. Even though you can look up everyones schedule on the wiki it's too much faffing for me - takes away from my dungeon crawling time.

Oh, true, it does take a couple days to track everyone down. It doesn't help that many of the most stationary people (Krobus, the wizard, the dwarf) are all pretty scattered about. I used to run a big circuit of town with a stack of gifts even before I got the quest, so I don't mind it as much.
