Probably Sandy instead of say Haley or Emily (probably Emily)

Even though she's my favourite spouse, it just never felt like she was implemented so thoroughly as a spouse and I think it makes sense for just one of residents of their house to be marriable. If you're in multiplayer you can basically make their house entirely abandoned which feels odd for a large house in the middle of town.

I would really like some deeper platonic relationships though, would be nice just to have a really good set of friends and not have everyone of a certain age be datable, could just be me though

If you go by pure popularity it could be trading Sam for Marlon or Willy, and Maru for Sandy. Though you might find some rather dissenting opinions who prefer that Caroline or Robin should be there instead of Sandy buuuut that would require some deeper changes to the game narrative.

Maybe that needs doing. Because if those who prefer men finally get a mature male option other than mentally aging Harvey and his wiggly facial hair familiar, then Robin or Caroline probably should be an option for those who prefer ladies with a more informed perspective on life. Pam is the only mature woman who is unattached but she's not given a particularly sympathetic personality so it's more difficult to warm up to her, even if her backstory provides a damn good reason for her being that way.

I'd trade Abigail for a dateable Marnie in a heartbeat. Can't you just imagine the 10 heart event where Lewis flees commitment like the manchild he is?

Just curious, but I'm wondering what methods you would use to make Robin, Caroline, Marnie, or even Jodi dateable, or vice versa on the rare occurrence that someone wants to date their opposite?

Caroline is already not happy about Pierre's focus on business to the exclusion of family when at community gatherings, which is a pretty strong annoyance. These are big community experiences in a town that seems to value them quite highly based on attendance, and Pierre spends most of them sequestered away from community engagement unless there's g to be made. And she may also get annoyed at Pierre taking credit for selling produce that's clearly from the Farmer's farm. Writing that breakup would be a breeze as I feel Caroline's halfway there already. And yes my wishful thinking in clearly interjected there as well…

I think Robin would be harder even though many get annoyed by Demetrius and even Robin expresses her disappointment with his perspective in more than one cutscene event. However those events are the scaffold upon which to expand her annoyance with his pedantry and maybe even his resistance to compromise. He seems to see the world as either-or, with little nuance in between and that can be wearing over time. It could even be where if you play Maru's 2  event out one way, it leads to this fractionation in the family. I always lie for D in that event which... well I guess I like D too much for whatever reason, kinda giving him the benefit of the doubt being not an ideal parent. But If the Farmer went honest with that event to Maru, then that starts the family having enough of Demetrius's inflexible way of dealing with things and his and Robin's eventual breakup. That would bug me though. I don't like Pierre all that much but I do like Demetrius for all his faults. It can take time to find the nuance in life.

But yeah Jodi and Kent. That would be real hard to do respectfully. Adult children like Abigail, Seb, and Maru can mostly manage a parental breakup especially if they comprehend the reasons but a young kid will not understand nearly as much of it, or none of it at all. This is where Jas's small but clearly imperfect life experiences could be an asset as she may be able to explain certain things to Vincent based on her more varied family experiences. I'm not sure I could write something to split up Jodi and Kent though. However challenges are a good thing so if it came to that I think I could find a way for them to part ways while remaining friends with both still participating in their kids' lives, Kent's war experiences leading to too many changes in his personality for either to want to annoy the other with.

Marnie and Lewis? Piece of cake. New Farmer commits to Marnie? She dumps ol' Lewie like a sack o' potats. Getting Lewis to commit to the Farmer would be an interesting one but I think if the Farmer took an interest in supporting his mayorship with suggestions for tax changes or adding new festivals to attract new visitors and their g from out of town, this could work. I think it would be directly related to fixing the Community Center (and all the associated Town improvements along the way), which Lewis seems interested in but doesn't know where to start (think: cleaning the garage). That would effectively be a big heart event with him. Same for fixing the wooden bridge to the Tide Pools. Opening up the Secret Woods, getting the Trash Bear to clean up the town. These things are improving the Town which he is Mayor of, that's an eeeeeasyyyyy set of  events for Lewis becoming interested in the Farmer.

I would make Marlon a marriage candidate, instead of Sam. Give folks someone more mature if they are so inclined. If Marlon was a no-go, Clint or Gus would be fine candidates, in that order.

For the female side it would definitely be Marnie (Shane can take over her shop) or Sandy instead of Penny. Just my 2 cents :-)
I'd like to see Marlon able to be married too, as well as the Wizard and Linus. Instead of Alex, Sam and Elliot. No offense to those who like them :)

Would like to romance Sandy, for a change.

In exchange for Harvey. Dude is old and he doesn't neet a mate, everybody knows doctors are playboys anyway and in hot demand (most health department workers, really).
