Four Corners Farm Play n catch farm

Started a farm after buying the game a second time, now on PS5. The farmer is named after my cat Antonio. Welcome to Play n catch farm ๐Ÿ˜ธ

For some reason I always end up like this... ๐Ÿ˜Š End of year 1 summer is upon us, and the farm is almost as overgrown as when grampa handed it over.

Some crop fields outside the house, no sprinklers, and a random assortment of chests and mostly free machines near the house and shipping bin. Chests are getting increasingly full and chaotic. As usual I have no idea how to organise things, either in the chests or the farm itself ๐Ÿ˜ญ

But alas, here we are.

Got to Calico Desert a few days ago, and opened Skull Cavern. Pickaxe was at Clint's at the time, but I did kill a few enemies while boxed in by rocks at the entrance, haha.

Otherwise I'm at fishing 10, which could probably have been 15... Bought a coop finally, and upgraded it once, and there is a brown chicken and baby duck.

Never played on this layout before, but maybe I can start to organise more in year 2. But more tricky now, as I can't use stardewplanner with a console.

Very odd stuff with the travelling cart. She has had red cabbage 3 times, 7 pieces combined. Had a rabbit's foot twice in a row too, but couldn't afford it so early on. Was able to buy a madly overpriced truffle too, so it should be possible to finish the community centre in year 1, despite not having a barn yet.

Wait are you still in year one?

Wahhhhhhhhh โ˜น You are so good!
Haha, thanks. I'm really not tho, but did play the game almost 3 years ago. Unfortunately I tend to get bored when the farm starts to get developed into machines and the days get too monotonous and stressful. Or merely when I've played into year 2 or 3. Depends a bit.

Was fortunate here and could buy much I needed from the pig lady, so despite no barn, the Community Center is pretty close to completion. Don't think it has been that quick before.

The Greenhouse was completed the night to the 11th of Fall Year 1 ๐Ÿ˜

Forgot to go in there the first days, but have planted my only ancient seed now, and an apple tree. Got the others from the bat cave. 3 apples is rough though, so the tree is needed. Shame I couldn't afford a rabbit's foot from the cart, but it was too expensive in early spring, and hasn't showed up again.

The farm itself doesn't look like much tbh. Was able to set it up with around 15 quality sprinklers, and planted some 120 ish seeds, so that helped the early morning watering woes. Mostly planted cranberries, because I don't have the machines to process much of anything, so almost everything is sold raw. But income now can be better than more later. Or that is what I tell myself ๐Ÿ˜…

End of Year 1 ๐Ÿ™‚

Couldn't quite get the Community Centre completed. My darn rabbit refuses to chew its foot off.

The farm still looks like crap, but some progress. All tools upgraded to gold, and pickaxe to iridium. A dino in the coop, with another egg in the oven. Built a shed as well, but just 16 kegs in there.

Overall we made a little over 800,000 gold in the first year, which was greatly helped by 2 or 3 batches of starfruit wine from the greenhouse, which sold for 50,000 each time.

Not been to Ginger Island yet, but perhaps completing the CC was a requirement? I don't recall.

Not sure what to do with the other corners yet, but would like a bunch of ponds. Downside is they're a pain to deal with each day, but they're cute and fun otherwise.

Oh, the raccoons is brand new for me, so that was cool. The wife has arrived, which I think happened right before year 2 started (I've played a few days of spring).

Never done this before, and it sure was a pain on console, but had funds so figured what the hey. Might be useful down the road. Purchased about 5000 wood and 3000 stone from Robin, and 200 coal from Clint.

Perhaps I use this thread kinda incorrectly from the intended purpose, but wanted to write updates now and then ๐Ÿ˜Š

This is from Summer 2 in year 2.

Basically still only use the house corner, where I've placed some crops around 6 iridium sprinklers and a handful quality ones. Comfortable to deal with "only" maybe 150 seeds, instead of the many, many hundreds in late year Standard farm ones in the past. Slowly getting more kegs in the right-hand shed (the other is empty), but it's a royal pain to place the things on console ๐Ÿ‘Ž

Second day in year 3. Ideas for how I can organise the farm, what to put where?

First time on the four corners farm, and I always seem to struggle with making decisions ๐Ÿ˜Š

The crops area is quite small, but can't process what I get anyway. One shed is filled with kegs, the other us empty. Rows of trees are too narrow, but I need oaks with tappers, and these are what I have ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

5 ponds have legends in them, and I thought about adding a bunch more fish ponds. A pain with inventory management, but otherwise I kinda like them.

Liked where the meteor landed so didn't want to break it open.

Edit. Greenhouse looks like this btw. Ancient fruit and star fruit. Since I postponed putting up fruit trees so long, I went with bananas and mangos ๐Ÿ˜…

Fired up the computer for the first time in probably a month, and tried my hand at the Stardew Planner. It doesn't really work on mobile, and it's much easier to plan things out there than in-game on PS5.

It's a start: https://stardew.info/planner/23-bright-toads-walked-jovially

The saved picture was borked, so captured the top half manually. The lower half is still empty.

Quite possibly way too big farming area, but on the other hand it's pretty small compared to going all-out on the Standard farm :D

It's comfortable to have furnaces and such outside because then I can see when they're done without needing to stick my head into a building first. But at some point I need to re-arrange the mess around the shipping box and house :P

Edit: Lower half. Posting it so I can see what's what when I play later

Farmer
The absolute best part about the 4 corners farm is you can simply clear 1/4 of the farm off for early gameplay and let the rest grow over and forget about it until you become better able to run/use more farm space. And it stays put and never grows into your upper right 1/4 of the map like other farms do. I usually do clear just enough grass and weeds to reach the quarry in the bottom right 1/4 of the map. But the rest I just do when I have better tools, more time, or need more resources. Youโ€™re doing a great job! Youโ€™re quite far for fall 1.

Maybe putting a nice beehive area somewhere?
Thanks. Have thought about this. But I tend to accidentally pick the flower(s) and then get worthless wild honey, so often don't bother with beehives, or only use those I get for free (CC and Lewis lottery).

Find a way to decorate with your meteorite
Any ideas for that? I planted a mushroom seed by it, but it can't have grown yet cause I don't see it.

Very much agree. A quadrant has a more manageable size, and I felt less stress in the first two years by ignoring the others, and still not get invaded by trees and grass. It's a really nice map for single player too, and I will play it again for sure ๐Ÿ™‚

Some progress, as we move into Year 4.

Am not a fan of paving over everything, and all those sharp corners, so opted for quartz roads, haha. The yellow underground isn't pretty either, so yeah :/

The cauliflowers are just done, so nice time for an image. I'm weird and cut down the large ones too. Bought the big clock this day too, since we had 12 million in funds.

It's not super pretty or anything, but I'm reasonably pleased with it for now.

Two sheds are empty, one with kegs and one with jars for roe, and this mixed one with various machines.

Need more hardwood for heavy tappers, so am growing those trees south of the oak forest. I don't like to pollute the entire world with kegs, so quarry etc have their natural look. Therefore this forest will probably be temporary. Suppose I need to fill more sheds with kegs if I am to ever work through all the veggies and fruits saved up in chests, plus all these strawberries on these now pretty large crop fields. Good thing they don't rot!

Got the legendaries family quest again, but am kinda running out of room for fish ponds here ๐Ÿ˜…

An update, in late fall year 4.

Almost no changes I see now, and I have played so much!

Will cut down the mahogany trees, cause I noticed more than a stack of hardwood lol. Probably remove the oaks too, cause I have ca 500 oak resins, and have 2.5 sheds with kegs. Thinking to replace the forest with more fish ponds because I got a bunch of legendaries from more quests. And by accident discovered we can get more than 1 each time. The green ponds there have 3 legends in them, and I have 4 more, plus 7-8 crimsonfish, and fewer of the others.

It has become kind of a pain with so many different types of roe, so although I like the different colours and output, I may just have to remove some of them to get a little more quality of life. Void salmon, super cucumbers and octopus are kinda underwhelming :/

All ponds have animal crackers, so that helps, and all animals too, except chickens and obviously pigs. I'm already hundreds of eggs behind in making mayo ๐Ÿ˜‚

Oh, and I discovered this is a thing... ๐Ÿ‘€
