NPCBarrier | T custom property, unsure what I'm doing wrong

Playing with a custom farm map, I have a designated area for my barn and coop animals and would like to stop them from leaving that area without placing gates. There are only three tiles I want to make impassable to them but I'm unsure where I'm going wrong as it isn't working.

I open up the map in Tiled, select spring_outdoorsTilesheet in Tilesets, select edit Tileset, select the specific tiles I wish to make impassable and add NPCBarrier | T to their custom properties, save and load up my game. But my animals are still wandering past these tiles. The three tiles in question are part of the Back layer.

Would somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong? ;~;

So, if I understood correctly, you are changing the tilesheet/tileset but not the map itself?
Have you added a Tile to the Objects Back layer?
Such properties have to be added to the Objects layer, not the tile layer; basically, the Tile layer is only for painting, while the Objects Layer is for functions.
If you look at the picture I included you'll see the selected layer which I mean.
