New Haunted Chocolatier blog post with screenshots!

I agree with FilthyGorilla. I discovered Stardew Valley on mobile and I'm still playing it on my mobile, though I now play most on my time on the PC.
Therefore, I would like to have Haunted Chocolatier ported mobile. However, I don't want it to be at the cost of ConcernedApe sanity or tranquility of mind.

But back for a more important thing:

I would love so much to have my character being able to settle in that mill. It's so nice and well designed and drawn!!
Am I the only one that can almost see the wheel spinning in the water?
I'm just looking at all the mixed carrots, potatoes, and kale in the little garden and wondering if that's a hint at companion planting and/or crop diversity bonuses being a possible new feature or mechanic, hah

Kind of rude to hope that a lot of fans / players don't get to experience a new game they're all looking forward to. But you're in luck, sadly, as CA has stated that it "probably" won't be releasing on mobile. Hopefully that changes but I guess we'll have to wait and see. I don't play on mobile so I have no horse in that race, but I do have empathy towards those left out
Also kind of rude to assume that he has all these emotions and feelings and intentions towards other players, when I'm sure that's not true. In reality I'd just like to hear why @MogBeoulve doesn't want it to get ported.

I don't see how "I'd rather this new experience not be available for this specific group of people" can be interpreted any other way than "I hope they don't get to join in the fun" but you're right, that wasn't entirely a fair assumption. I assume their reasoning is to do with the workload being much harder on CA when mobile ports are involved. And that's a fair position to take; clearly mobile is difficult to develop for. Personally, my choice would be to hope that years of experience have enabled CA to better work outside his comfort zone and continue bringing his magic to all of his fans, not leave a significant portion of them behind, but ultimately it's up to him and what he thinks is best

Some considerations about Haunted Chocolatier being released for PC only:

Close to zero new games are released for PC/Mac and another platform at the same time. Maybe exactly zero, anyone got examples? Stardew Valley was not released for PC and mobile/consoles at the same time, instead released on consoles and mobile almost a year to many years after PC, depending on the platform.

Developing your game, not your large company's game but instead your labor of love, means you code it yourself on one platform. CA codes on PC so that's where it goes. Other people and studios do the translations to other platforms. Troubleshooting game code is an unenviable task and the thought of doing that on multiple platforms at the same time while only being an expert on one exists somewhere between ridiculous and impossible.

That does not sound like a labor of love.

I'm guessing that CA is writing Haunted Chocolatier because he has stories to tell and enjoys the medium of computer games as his platform for storytelling. I'm willing to wait for as long as it takes to get it done the way he wants to, and releasing for PC-only seems not only the most expeditious but also the least complicated and most enjoyable way possible to do that.

And I want him to enjoy the process as much as possible as that will reflect in a very positive way on the quality of our Haunted Chocolates when it's finished.

Yeah I never meant to imply I was hoping for a fully cross-platform release. With the way CA chooses to handle his business, that absolutely is not happening. What I meant to communicate is that would be a sorry shame if Chocolatier stayed as a PC exclusive forever

Let's stay away from the shame train and let CA run his business the way he sees fit. He's done mostly good to us with SDV, so I'm okay to see where this goes

Assorted bandaids that give different healing/immunity bonuses would be hilarious. 😄
Lol hang on, I've ignored this cause I didn't know you guys were talking about what I thought was buttons on the clothing, but it seems I also misunderstood... what is the circle one with four dots supposed to be then?!?

I guess buttons wouldn't make much sense now, would it? What combat properties would those even offer? Defensive capabilities? LOL

😄 Across from the sword? That's a shield. CA previously said that shields were going to play a role in Haunted Chocolatier's combat.

Bowling ball for your 6-fingered Chocolatier.

The game centers around your quest to restore the local bowling alley and it's associated bowling league of international renown to it's former glory after falling on hard times. After the centuries-long family tradition of the first born 6-fingered child of a local farmer being anointed as Our Town's Next Top Bowler is upset when no extradigital children are born after local water-cleanliness standards are passed, a mysterious new stranger strolls into town...

unaware of lost traditions
sensing a savior is expected
only wanting to start a small confectioner's business
hiding a dark secret beneath thick leather gloves
really needing a pee break

What will the Stranger find in the dilapidated old factory?
Why does the Stranger never take off their gloves?
Has the Stranger even picked up a 7-10 split?

All these questions and more will be answered when you play:

Haunted Bowling Alley Chocolatier

Yeah OK or that.

A good port of a game to mobile would more or less require that you design the game interface and mechanics with the intent of being able to do everything on a mobile phone. It would limit what you can do and how. It's pretty amazing that CA et al. made Stardew Valley work on mobile. But because it wasn't written explicitly for it, it's not an easy process and it's probably always going to have at least minor glitches. I think that would be fine if players could accept it for what it is, a PC game modified to allow them to play it on a machine it was never intended for, and accept that it's not perfect. Yet that is not the situation. They are unhappy with what they perceive as a deliberately inferior game.

So now we come to a new game. We don't know much about it, but I know that if CA is half as intelligent as we know he is, if he wants to make a successful port of HC to mobile, he will have to lay the groundwork NOW. And that would basically make HC a mobile game being run on a PC. And I don't like mobile games, so I really hope that is not what he is doing, because then I'll hate his new game. I'm already worried that it might not have any rabbits, I don't need to start having a nervous breakdown about being forced to use a touch screen interface.

And nothing I said went against any of that. This community has an issue with toxic positivity. Multiple times I have voiced full support for CA and his team doing whatever works best for them. I will also state that it would be a shame if people get left out. I will never walk that back or change my opinion on it

This is also kind of rude and shortsighted. Just because a few immature idiots can't be polite when they've been forced to sit in the corner and watch PC enjoy shiny new toys for eight months, doesn't mean all fans outside of PC are awful and undeserving of getting thr chance to experience an exciting new game from the creator of game they love
That's not at all what I'm saying. I'm saying if the developer of the game is actively being turned off creating a game because of a toxic community (even if it's a vocal minority), they're perfectly within their rights to not port to that platform.

You're absolutely right, that is totally fair. Though I do hope they don't let the words of the few affect the outcome for the many. I think the much more significant issue with negativity, specifically around Chocolatier, is the whiners complaining about him focusing on Stardew instead of working on Chocolatier. That's the real overstep
