Need ideas for a potential Stardew Valley-opoly

I was recently gifted a variant of a Monopoly board game that is designed to allow you to make your own properties, money types, cards in place of community chest and chance, write most of your own rules, and even print your own type of play money.

Below is a link and several images for reference

Here's the thing, the game came in a cellophane wrap so it should have been in mint condition, but the game is 28 years old. The program used to make the custom parts is installed via CD-ROM, and it can be run on OS's as old as WINDOWS 98!

Therefore, I am not entirely sure I even can do this. But in case I can, I welcome as many ideas and support for what should go on the blank spots. For example, I'm pretty sure that the most expensive property, where Board Walk usually us, should be the summit, and the start space should be either the farm house, or the bed.

And maybe one "Bad News" card should be you pass out at 2am.

Please give me all the ideas you can, regardless of whether I can actually go forward with making a custom Monopoly board game with such old software.

Good news:
- the farm was featured in the local paper (like the letter you get when you earn a certain amount of money)
- letter from Dad sending you money
- you won the fair
- client payback program by Pierre
- tax payback from Lewis (the one for all property owners maybe?)
- you had a good harvest/your chickens have been producing double/all your fishing catches were iridium quality etc
- the governor really liked the soup and send a gift to all residents

bad news:
- any of the 2 am messages
- you should be more careful of your health, Dr. Harvey charges you
- Lewis forgot some taxes
- governor hated the soup and raised taxes
-pay a fine for overfishing/trespassing in the mines/quarry
- you had a bad harvest of random crop

I’d take a look at the secret notes and letters on the wiki for some ideas for fitting text.

Spaces: Either see how many areas and houses there are, but I think you’ll have more spaces to fill than stardew addresses. Or go least expensive to most expensive crop ( like “parsnip road” to “starfruit alley”) or even products (starfruit wine alley) for more variety.

utility and transport you could use mine carts and warp totems.
For the corners the village square and the meadow where the flower dance takes place, or even the summit. Loose a turn could also be the saloon, or the clinic. What does the free corner do?

Thanks for these ideas. I love them so far a d I'll think more about them. Brainstorm everything.

Maybe festival results for some cards, like the grange display or the egg hunt? Good or bad luck with the fishing minigames, or a meteor strikes certain crops?

I will indeed take a look at the secrets and letters pages for more ideas.

Free corner is like free parking, so it could be either something custom, or nothing at all. In a lot of revised or house rules for normal Monopoly, all the money taken by taxes, community chest, and chance cards gets put into the center, making up a variable pot of money, and the first person to reach free parking claims the whole pot, then a new pot is made for future money, and the cycle begins again.

Local Legend
I Love this layout! Thank you so much for this! What image program did you use to make this so quickly?

And do you have any ideas what kind of cards the decks should have?
I just put the image in paint and added the text boxes. As for the decks I quite liked the idea @Ereo suggested

  • One more thing I just remembered there should exist a good luck day card that allowed the player to fix the hat mouse cabin (if owned) and increase the value by 200$.
  • Another good luck day card could be "You obtained a prismatic shard. Next time you pass on The 3 Pillars you don't need to pay rent. If you own the spot exchange the card for 100$. If the spot is not yet owned you can buy the spot with a discount of 100$.
  • Bad luck day card "You really wanted those cheap sunflower seeds from JojaMart and now you are lost in the aisle "???". Stay in the JojaMart spot for 2 turns"
  • Bad luck day card "Pam damaged the bus "again", pay the bank 250$ to help fix it"
  • Good luck day card "You fixed the community centre and the junimos are very happy, all players that land on the community centre spot gain 100$. Only in effect until the player that got the card passes the beginning tile "Bus stop"."
  • Bad luck day card "The green rain was wild yesterday and your properties got damaged until you land on "Robin's shop" the other players only pay half-price when landing on your properties. If in 2 two trips around the board you do not land on "Robin's shop" the card's effect is gone. "
Some more card ideas, what do you think @Umbra of Emberspike ?

Bad luck:

The species of fish you were looking for just didn't show up

Your food buff ran out and now you're at a disadvantage

You're dealt a bad hand at Calico Jack

The artifact you were looking for by digging it up didn't appear

The geode didn't give you what you wanted

You're late to meet an NPC before they go somewhere that's locked for the rest of the night.

You run out of health in the skull cavern and fall short of level 100

Good luck:

You get double foraging as a botanist

Double crops from your raisin-fed junimos

A prismatic shard drop in the mines

Qi gems from a dangerous monster

You and your spouse watch the green moonlight jelly together

You win the grange display

Your Winter Star recipient loves your gift

Your spouse generously cooks you a dish when you come home at night before they go to bed

You win a round of darts in the pirate cove

You catch every rare species of fish at the night market

A crop fairy boosts your harvest

Your pet loves you
