Mac My new dog is depressed

I'm hosting a multiplayer farm and my dog disappeared randomly. Was told this was a known issue and that I could get a new dog from Marnie in year 2. I got this new dog and it never leaves the house, doesn't build hearts no matter how much I pet it, and if it's near me when I wake up in the morning, I can see that it displays the crying emote. It has an accessible bowl, although the bowl was for the original dog -- thinking I need to build a new one, probably, but since it won't leave the house, it won't be able to reach its bowl anyway, right?

Maybe it’ll only leave the house if it has a bowl? I would try building one.

Yes it seems like the old bowl is tied to your original dog who's playing the extended game of hide n seek with you. That new bowl will make new doggie happy and they should go outside to it.

Update: I built a new bowl. Dog will now go outside and is no longer crying every morning, but is still not building hearts.
