I think the Mushroom Tree now spreads collectable seeds to the surrounding area like other trees. I didn't see anything on the wiki when I first suspected it - it looks like it has been updated now. All I knew was I was clearing the forest on my farm, cutting down trees and collecting seeds, when I noticed that I had a mushroom tree seed in my inventory. I thought it might be a seed I got from the ground, but might have also been a random drop from cutting down trees (like how random clothes drop now). But I've been able to replicate it several times - the mushroom tree's spreading seeds are now collectable. This is awesome, as I've never wanted to pay for the seeds from Qi's walnut room but also I get very impatient waiting for the mushroom trees to naturally spread in the direction I want them to.
