Multiplayer invite code issue

Hello guys, I have a small problem. Me and my friend have trouble connecting via Invite Code. We already tried everything that i've read on other threads but nothing is working, Sometimes the game just connects with no problem and sometimes we cant connect for an hour. Maybe it has something to do with me playing on steam and he on GOG or poor internet connection but i need you help guys if you had the same problem

What exactly have you tried? It could be because of poor internet connection, but you should be able to play even if one of you is on Steam and the other is on GOG
