Tiger Slimes. Vicious when you don't have the slime charmer ring, and even when you do, they are always in the way when you speed run the volcano. I would put Shadow Snipers in second place.

- Flying/Royal Serpents are dangerous, when: they immediately pounce on you, the very moment you appear on to the next level down, or there are many of them swarming you.
- Iririum Bats do a lot of damage; particularly nasty when they swarm you.
- Shadow people in groups can be tricky, since one debuffs you plus heals friends, the other runs straight towards you, literally stepping on you and the other type shoots you from distance, through obstacles and blinds you.
- The upgraded living flame can be tricky to deal with, especially when there are many around at the same time.
(putrid ghost is irrelevant with fairy box or basilisk paw trinkets)

Just like real life, I practice avoidance so the question becomes: Which is the most difficult to avoid, even with Speed Buffs?

Honorable Mention to their little siblings the Magma Sprites but they don't have the debuff and are quicker to kill.
In early game the Shadow people in the dark levels of the Mines creep me out and me do NOT like.
I have trouble with the Flying Serpents but I can always just toss down more Stairs to evade them. And everything else in Skull Cavern.
Slimes are a pain but the Slime Charmer Ring completely eliminates them.
Lava Lurks are annoying but pretty easily avoided as their fireballs are slow.
The Spiders and Mushroom thingies in the Dangerous Mines are very annoying with their high speed boinging but again, Staircases. Frankly, the same goes for everything on the lower Levels of the Dangerous Mines, but always the solution is Staircases.

I would say the mummies because, at least, for me that makes it so that I automatically have to go for the crusader enchantment. Since I do not have the habit of carrying bombs in the inventory mostly because I'm past perfection and if I need something from the skull cavern I just use ladders to go deep and then do some mining with my pickaxe.
So ultimately the mummies are the most annoying enemy because you can not even kill them with just your sword.

THE **&*!()^ BEIGE FLY IN THE FIRST COUPLE OF CAVES.
seriously. The sound effect is abysmal and gives me the willies, it is a affront onto man and makes me mute my volume.
Plus, its a rush to try and kill the thing before it metamorphisizes, in which you just have to WAIT THERE.

i DESPISE the lil floating flame dudes. they take so long to defeat even with high quality weapons and they take a decent chunk of health if they get ya :(

I gotta agree bigly with this, in early game those Flies are the worst. And if you're me and far too slow kill the Grubs, you get those 3-4 pulsating pupal seconds of radical existentialism where you ponder your fate and life choices before curtains of winged chitinous fury descend upon your unprotected Farmer and her ineffectual Rusty Sword.
I guess it's not the worst way to meet Harvey, though.

I do agree early game mining is the worst. By the time you get later game swords it’s fun whipping through those bugs over and over for ancient seeds.I gotta agree bigly with this, in early game those Flies are the worst. I like them, but then I don’t go in there until I get galaxy, space boots, good rings and good food. I find the lava monsters worse cause their fire balls spawn a long/wide range for a decent in game time over and over and if there are two or three it is a nightmare. You can’t reach them most of the time and They even can get their fire balls through most rocks and walls. So you can’t escape. That’s when swarming flames become a problem. Especially with a herd of tiger slimes swarming you and thus pushing you down as well.

Kind of true, the little flame guy kind of gave junimo vibes with the guiding us to the volcano and all that. Guess he was just on kidnapping duty, trying to find someone to take to the volcano to kill. Shame really, they are kind of cute if we ignore all the damage.
