I really enjoyed the scavenger hunt type thing where you had to put a rainbow shell into the box at the train station.
I noticed the mines and dessert dungeons have little areas on the walls that look like they can be examined. Maybe those could be used as hints for a scavenger hunt taking place in the mines. Rewards for it could be more scarecrows (mummy scarecrow?), some ultra speed running shoes, or a new weapon to kill those unkillable bugs. Or.... the hints could lead you to a secret floor containing a boss.
