Migrating XNB mods to Content Patcher packs

Hi! I was wondering if it's possible for someone to update a mod and turn it into a content patcher? It's a mod for changing the fishing farm's islands so that they're larger. I built an entire farm using this mod and since it's not updated (I think) it won't let me exit my farm through the path near the shipping bin. I would give you the link to where I downloaded it from, but I honestly can't find it and can't remember where I downloaded it from... so this file's all I got

It's not that big of a deal but I honestly can't play this save without this mod anymore, so if anyone could do it, I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance!

Unofficial update that adds a config file to disable all dialogue edits outside of the 10 heart event to prevent conflicts with other dialogue mods. Either open the config and change options to false or you can access the options through the GenericModConfigMenu . I'm planning on updating this mod to the newest version of ContentPatcher and SDV 1.6 to fix a map glitch that sticks the player in a cliff, so be warned you may need to use NoClip Mode for the time being. There's no collision if you use v1.5.6 of SDV (which I do for android).

edit 4.16.24: I was able to make a version for v1.6, lots of back and forth testing because i didn't know you can edit and reload patches in the mods folder with SMAPI. I did make one word change to make it slightly more gender neutral but i have no idea how to do that with the pregnancy portion.

hi guys! dipped my toe into updating a mod of my own, so here's a new version of R99AZM's arvak horse replacement. it's technically already been converted by coldazrael back in 2018, but with 1.6 out now it was missing a key feature which i added in along with some extra color choices! im not entirely sure what the polite thing to do in this scenario is (do i edit myself into the wiki as the converter? list it as a new mod?) but i figured i would drop this here in case anyone else would like it

edit: i updated it even slightly further, so now you can mix and match colors for: base, flame, and saddle! (i didnt test every single combo but should be fine o7)

If anyone happens to still be taking requests, I am terrible at coding (my last attempt was tragic) could someone convert this Bachelorettes to Bachelors mod to a Content Patcher mod?
Gay man wants to romance more men, go figure lmao
This is the first like, complete version of the mod I have seen, but I am bad at coding as previously stated, and XNB is just kind of clunky for me compared to being able to switch around mod packs for different playthroughs.
I don't mind if the names aren't changed- even if someone can just figure out how to get the sprite sheets and portraits from the XNB files I could work with that using other methods-
Though I would not hate the NPC Dispositions mod also being converted for easy use.
Hey there! Not sure if you still need/want this but as someone who also wants more guys to romance I did conversion for this. Unfortunately, aside from the sprites/portraits and names under the portraits and friendship tab, I'm unsure how to make the other edits from the original disposition. This mod, Ultimate Villager Manager , is working on a v1.6 update so maybe that can be helpful in the future. Hope you enjoy!

edit 4.26: Good news I figured out the dispositions! Some lines are hardcoded and I haven't thoroughly tested everything but no errors were thrown and all appropriate character edits were loaded. I do need to check why Maru's hospital outfit won't load but otherwise it's funtional. New file has been uploaded.

Hi Everyone!

This is my first time coding, and I fell in love with an old xnb mod that would change sprites and portraits. I successfully (with help from a tech friend) converted it to a SMAPI file but with the new 1.6 update it looks like it doesn't actually change anything. Any suggestions on how I can fix this? many thanks!

hey!! i really wanted to use these danganronpa shirts but i have absolutely no idea of how to convert them to content patcher in a way to be usable (i'm guessing it should be migrated to FS but i also have no idea how to do that...) the hairs already have been migrated by another user but i really wanted the shirts too :awe:
This should be all Shirts. Don't know if i got all the Sleeves right.

This thread coordinates the migration of existing XNB mods to Content Patcher packs, and tracks unofficial conversions.

What is Content Patcher?
Content Patcher
lets you edit the game's XNB data through SMAPI, without replacing the actual files and with zero programming needed. You can edit a specific part of each file, instead of replacing the whole file.

Why not create XNB mods?
Content Patcher packs have several benefits over XNB mods:

  • Update checks: when a new version of the pack is released, players see an alert in the SMAPI console so they know about it.
  • Compatibility checks: when a game update breaks the pack, SMAPI can disable it (to prevent game crashes and bugs) and give them a URL to download the latest version.
  • Easy install/uninstall: drop a content pack into your Mods folder to install it, and remove it to uninstall it.
  • Localisation support: edits are applied to all languages automatically, no need to create multiple copies of each file. (Or, target a specific language if you want.)
  • Mod compatibility: many content packs can edit the same file without conflicting. (Unlike XNB mods, which only support one mod per file.)
  • Game compatibility: Content Patcher packs can edit only the part of each file they need, and the game rarely changes existing content, so most packs will work fine in new versions of the game. (Unlike XNB mods which replace the whole file and lose newer content.)
  • Easy to create: configure the changes through a JSON file, and drop your unpacked PNGs and maps directly into the content pack folder. Edit them and run to see your changes, no repacking or recopying files needed.
  • Easy to edit: players can edit the JSON file to tweak the changes, no need to unpack/repack files.
How do I create Content Patcher packs?
See the Content Patcher guide. Feel free to ask questions in this forum, the SMAPI subreddit, or in the #making-mods channel of the Stardew Valley Discord.

Unofficial XNB mod conversions
For authors who haven't migrated their mods officially yet, players have created unofficial conversions so they work with the latest Stardew Valley updates. If you migrated an XNB mod unofficially, post a message below and update the list on the wiki!

See list of conversions on the wiki.
Hello this is my first time posting here so sorry if this is too much, or if this is the wrong place to post it - but there's an Adventure Time hairstyle mod I'd really love to try out. It's about 9 years old, and no longer compatible. I did find a content patcher version on ChuckleFish, but you need an account to download it and I can't get a registration email sent to me. I think it just replaces the original in game hairs, but if there is a way to make compatible with Fashion Sense please let me know!
