Mac Macbook Pro Xbox controller help

Hey! I am on a Macbook Pro (15-inch, 2018) that is updated to macOS Ventura 13.2.1 and I am having issues with getting my Xbox series s controller to connect to Stardew Valley. It connects to the laptop and to steam and works everywhere else, but will not work on Stardew. Any help is greatly appreciated this is absolutely driving me insane!

I'm having the same issue. I used a Switch controller but the button layout was wrong and couldn't be corrected as far as I could tell. Went and got an XBOX controller. It connects to the computer, and even SDV says entering gamepad mode. But nothing works.

I am having this problem too with my Xbox one controller. Also having an issue with not being able to use a PS4 controller

My Xbox controller can now be operated like a mouse, but once I enter the game, I cannot operate it. Why? ：哭： I was happy to open the package but found it unusable!：哭：
