Losing progress is never fun . What platform did you lose it on ? If you are on pc i'm sure there are options . Ps4 has cloud save . I have no clue about mobile

Ik i'm 1 year late but i hope u notice this, i'm on mobile and i uninstalled and reinstalled my game because i haven't seen my pet for days and his water bowl is almost full everyday even if i didn't fill it and just exited my farmhouse, i reinstalled it and all my progress was gone " no saves found " when i clicked load :( i went to ZArchiver and went to stardew valley and went to saves but it was empty :( my stardew valley folder doesn't come with a backup folder inside of it either when i first played the game
