Lava Eel Ponds Spicy Eel

Ok so this ia a rant. I went to a great deal of time & effort to put in 24 lava eel ponds. One of the reasons I did so was to get spicy eel. Now, instead of one of the best foods in the game I am getting cave jellies every day. The spicy eel spawn has really suffered. I don’t see why players who have no interest in smoking fish, but invested this much effort to get a specific resource should be made to pay. In game terms I have gotten no spicy eel in 3 weeks. I spent hours mining gold, stone and obtaining resources for this project.

I say, if people want to smoke fish, let them go to the mines and fish. Don’t take something away from the lava eel pond owners. Yes, I know I can get spicy eel with rubies, but that’s not the point.

Like I'm sorry but that's sort of ridiculous? If your end game is spicy eels you could get a ruby every day with three squares devoted to crystalariums. Instead of 384 spaces devoted to lava eel farms? Like a single lava eel pond worth of space could have a fancy 2x2 decoration (maybe a table with a lava eel on it?) surrounded by crystalariums and you would literally be eating four spicy eels a day.

Also I looked into previous versions of the wiki page, and the chance for Spicy Eels has gone from 4% to 3.5%. Most of the chance for cave jelly has come from the odds of getting a single roe. So it just sounds like you've been unlucky? That or something's buggy but either way I wouldn't blame the cave jellies.

what makes you think I don’t have crystalariums? I have made 10’s of millions with them. But I love the speed spicy eel gives you. And in the early game, lava eel roe provides a good, solid financial foundation, without a lot of effort. I don’t go to Skull Caverns all that much, and the magma geodes are a consis source of iridium—which you need to make crystariums. In every game, I save diamonds from day 1 for the crystalariums.

I'm not saying you don't? I'm saying that, like, 6 or maaaybe 9 crystalariums (out of your "10's of millions") dedicated to rubies would be enough for you to enjoy the speed and luck of spicy eel literally every minute from the moment you wake up to the moment you pass out at 2 AM, every day. I like fish ponds as much as the next person (see: profile picture) but they're a lot more for the fun of mini sidequests, the occasional surprise gifts or self-indulgently suboptimal strategies.

That said, if you really have had 24 fish ponds all at max capacity and haven't gotten a single spicy eel for three weeks, that sounds a lot like something in the code for fish pond produce isn't working. Perhaps a bug report?

Ok folks. I can’t cook my own eels. I need those eels! I have to fund my 2 spicy eels per day habit somehow. I find the game speed way to slow otherwise.
