Is the wizard Abigail's dad??

Abigail mentions later that she doesn't remember the last time she dyed her hair.

There are at least 3 theories out there (and this being all speculation, nothing counts as a spoiler)

1) Abigail is the wizard's daughter. Pierre has raised her as his own and loves her, but wonders. Some versions posit that Caroline IS the witch who flies around cursing things, others that he's just had more than one failed relationship, unsurprising in a somewhat arrogant and brusque person.

2) CAROLINE is the wizard's daughter. Note the totally unnatural hair colour matching the witch's on a woman who is way too strait-laced to dye it thus. So Abigail is actually his granddaughter.

3) It's all misdirection. Colourful hair is a sign of magical potential, and Abigail is drawn to the tower's location because of the sense of its magic. No actual blood relation despite the speculation.

Setting: Feast of the Winter Star

"I've had too much nog!"

I don't see any straight-laced person here, merely a mother-in-law that needs some distance from Pierre so that everyone can live their best lives.

4) Abigail keeps talking about going into the caves, and adventure. She probably just wants to meet her dad: KROBUS! (or the Dwarf) Both the Dwarf and Abigail like (to snack on) shinies

Anywho... your theory 1) made the most sense to me while playing. The Witch doesn't exactly resemble Caroline very much, but who knows. Fans will make up all kinda of theories, and even more nutty head canon 😜

(Or head cannon as some write, which sounds pretty cool, but rather dangerous)

Cookie cutter soccer moms who live for their homeowner's association, demand to speak to the manager, and are the most rigid people around demanding everyone conform to their image of the world are also among the most notorious extreme wine drinkers and often have lots and lots of nog at the Christmas party.

And Caroline is not even close to that bad. She's actually rather nice as a person. Just not someone who would admit to magical heritage or tendencies in herself, and would regret them in her daughter.

(I think the people who posit her as the witch assume a sort of Jekyll/Hyde thing where she transforms in the night)

but I have never seen it confirmed...
You likely won't see it officially confirmed, but it's certainly a popular fan theory.

I personally prefer this theory a lot more.

I have had this suspicion for awhile but I have never seen it confirmed...

Pierre expresses concern that his kids aren't his...
Abigail has purple hair (yes I know it may be dyed)..
Abigail likes to hang outside the wizards tower..

Anyone else think this?
I agree with @Lew Zealand, the theory could use some more depth.

You're definitely not the first to feel this way though.

This is something that I never thought of before, but I think the idea of this is really cool.

This is my favorite theory of them all. Caroline as a dateable NPC when?

I've never thought of this lol, but I really like the idea of theory 2 but alas I think 1 is actually the truth.

I'm a bigger fan of the Caroline is the Wizard's daughter theory. A million years ago I made a little essay about it: https://magicallyclueless.tumblr.com/post/186508176425/agibail-is-not-wizerd-daghtter-an-essay

I wrote this way before 1.5 came out I think. I'm not even sure 1.4 was out, time is wacky

Post in spoilers because my tumblr profile is not built for readable essays:
Alright so this contains post-CC spoilers for Stardew Valley, you’ve been warned. I’ve just been thinking about this for several days now and I wanna actually share it with you guys and get a good ol’ LORE CONVO going. Keep in mind all of this is my own opinion and definitely not confirmed or supported in the game.

So, most people know the “Abigail is the Wizard’s daughter” theory, but if you want a TL;DR it’s the implication that Caroline and Wizard had an affair and that’s where Abigail came from. It is not confirmed in the game by any means, but of course there are strings of detail in the game that imply such.

I’ll start off by saying that the “Abigail is Wizard’s daughter” theory is totally fine and you are welcome to believe whatever you want in the world of SDV; it’s very malleable and ripe with rich characters and fun storytelling. However I’ll lay my full bias out, I’ve never been a fan of the theory and I think there are much more interesting routes to go. So, here’s what we know:

  • Pierre has dialogue concerned that Abigail might not be his daughter
  • Abigail says her hair is dyed, it used to be chestnut brown (possibly pierre color) but that she hasn’t dyed it back in a long time
  • The Wizard has an ex wife, who is the Witch (seen in the game as the one who curses your slime hutch and coop)
  • The Wizard said he made a mistake that caused the divorce with his ex wife and sent her into an uncontrollable rage, cursing the countryside
  • The Wizard says he might have a daughter in the valley, but he could be mistaken (”it’s rare, but it does happen”)
One thing I think people often miss is that the Wizard’s tower and the Witch’s hut are connected by a portal in the basement. You can activate the portal after the post-cc quest-line (which wasn’t in 1.0 but lore is fun!) and in the basement is a statue that changes your appearance (usable after getting Wizard to 4 hearts). Has no one wondered why both of them have access to something that can do that?

What if the Witch disguised herself as someone else, already wicked as she is, and tricked/seduced the wizard as someone else to see if he was faithful? Or maybe she was jealous of a connection in the town that wasn’t there and made it even worse. I have no doubt the Wizard would blame himself for this, for having a moment of weakness or to blame himself for falling for his ex-wife’s trick.

The Wizard and the Witch have a toxic relationship, one built on passion, desires, and jealousy; both of them. Both of them have made mistakes, both of them have grudges against one another, and both of them still think about each other (implied by Wizard asking the farmer about if the Witch was with anyone in the hut). It’s just that one of them had to move on, and the other one, as far as we know, hasn’t been able to. Of course, I don’t know much about the Witch, so take it with a grain of salt. She could have more sense than the Wizard! But not that much sense, both of them are dummies for having their HOUSES CONNECTED BY A PORTAL but that’s just me, maybe it was in their divorce papers or something

Little things like this just convince me that the “Abigail is Wizard’s daughter” is a red herring. There’s some evidence, yes, but there’s other pieces too, and I think if Wizard has anyone in town as his daughter, I think Caroline is the better bet. I don’t have much to support this, but I’ll still give my (very speculatory) case:

Caroline is obsessed with normalcy and the weird stuff she does have, she keeps to herself. She’s a very quiet, booksy person and stays in her lane. She has no visible qualms with Pierre (but I could be wrong) and instead puts a lot of her attention on being strict with Abigail, who has a fascination with magic, fighting, and of course, the Wizard (being near his tower in some seasons).

She is literally the exact opposite of Abigail, and that’s exactly why I think she’s the better candidate. She KNOWS that lifestyle and knows it’s dangerous; she’s seen what her parents have done, and she’s not going to be involved, let alone let her daughter get into that mess too. I think it makes sense for Abigail to have a natural curiosity for someone who might be her grandfather, but of course this evidence can go anywhere.

Another theory is that the Wizard’s “mistake” is completely wiping his memory, or wiping his family’s memory. But I’m tired I typed a lot y’all got all this i’m goin to bed

Also her hair is green

Thank you for reading this long post! I had fun typing it, hopefully you had fun reading it.
