Is it safe to build in tunnel before casino quest?

I saw mixed things and I wanted to double check if anyone had experience with building before finding the secret note and unlocking the casino. I know it's safe for sure after the quest but not sure if it was like this before.

Where did you see that it was a problem? No NPCs visit the tunnel, and putting in the battery does not change the map. So I don't see how it would make a difference.

The qi quest changes absolutely nothing about the tunnel, you might want to keep the tile in front of the box open so you can place a battery if you don’t already have one though.

Many players use the tunnel for kegs or crystalariums. It is a totally safe area unaffected by villager pathing.

And in the case you place an object in front of the box, there's nothing a pickaxe could not remove, though if this is a machine, you may have to wait for it to finish processing.

You can start the quest as soon as you have a battery, so you don't need to wait for the secret note.
