1. Fishing will provide you with most of your money early game.
2. Befriend Caroline to two hearts, then go through the door in the general store kitchen for a scene and a crafting recipe. Tea saplings sell for 250 G.
3. Mayonnaise makers, Cheese presses, Preserves jar, and Kegs are all worth crafting and using to make more money from your raw produce.
4. Casks (after 3rd house expansion) can add even more money to cheese and alcoholic stuff from the kegs.

There are lots of strategies to get g in the game, some of these are grindier than others, try a few and see which fit your playstyle. But!

You asked the most important question in the game: "maximize my experience playing the game for the first time"

There is IMO a single clear answer to that key question: take it slow. The first time experience of playing Stardew Valley is like no other and you will forever appreciate it the longer it lasts. Savor it and stretch out your first gameplay experience by exploring every aspect of the game and don't spoil any of it with the Wiki if you can (though when you get to the Walnuts, maybe a little spoiling works ;D ). Almost all of us wish we could experience this game again for the first time, even as we start our 5th or 6th playthrough because even on those replays it's still so damn good.

Take it easy. The g will come. Revel in the experiences. Chat about it with us here and hopefully we won't spoil it either!

I'm jealous of what's ahead of you.

As for the other parts of your question, play as you will. Focus on one (or a few) things at a time or spread your attention and try to do everything at once. There's no time pressure (other than seasons ending and festivals), so no need to hurry through.

Of course, if you are like me and start over if you realize you could've done something better/faster, that's a different beast. In that case, read the wiki.

So many things cost money at the beginning, but more importantly everything makes money too, so try not to fret too much!

Try talking to the people you meet, exploring new areas, and hitting random things with various tools to see what happens. Don't forget to water the things you plant and pet any animals you have. If you see a bit of dirt with three wiggly sticks/worms sticking out, try digging it up with the hoe. If you run low on energy and can't get food, then take the time to do some more exploring or socializing!

A note on fishing: it takes a while to get used to when you're new, it is very difficult at the beginning of a save when your fishing experience is low, and some people never enjoy it. So don't get too discouraged! Try getting the Training Rod (only 25g at Willy's shop) and take it slow. Worse comes to worst, you can get access to Crab Pots and Fish Ponds later on, which increase fishing experience without any actual fishing. Once you get some experience under your belt, both game experience and just plain old practice, it gets easier. I enjoy fishing now!

I second or third this. You can always have strategies for later saves. For the first save don’t read anything to help you and don’t worry about anyone else’s accomplishments. Just BE in Stardew for first time. Give it 3 full in game years without checking guided or watching or reading what others do. Just be, explore and enjoy. Have fun and see you again after 3 in game years. Sign off from here, have fun and we will be looking forward to hearing the magic of your first time adventure in Stardew valley!

Well the main goin of this game is to have fun, so there isn't really any right or wrong way to play the game, but here are some things to be aware about.

1) It might be tempting to pick the backpack first, but I would recommend getting the Fiberglass Rod first because Fishing is the one reliable source early on. You can earn the money back fast enough to get the backpack. You get the Bamboo Pole in Day 2.
2) While it's up to you, I would recommend taking the mines slow, upgrading when you reach about 5 Copper Bars for your Pickaxe/Axe. You will be using those two tools the most early on, so getting them upgraded is highly recommended.
3) Strawberries get you a great profit. You can even get a 3rd harvest if you manage to get the Spring Crop bundle cleared. You don't have to do this, but it does go a long way in getting you more money.
4) Tappers and Lighting Rods are the hugely ones because they give you a ton of important resources, like Oak Resin (for Kegs), Maple Syrup (for Beehouses) and Batteries (for Iridium Sprinkers)
5) That said, Perserve Jars and Quality Sprinkers are pretty good. Perserve Jars are good for an temporary revenue income (an an alternate to fishing), and they tend to be faster than Kegs anyways. They do fall out of favor but are still decent for giving you Roe. Same with Quality Sprinkers, you get Iridium later on but it might be a while till you get a reliable income of Iridium Bars because you are likely using them for Crystallariums.
6) You don't really have to rush to build houses. I build most of them by Winter. I do recommend building the Silo first to store your weed for feeding your animals.

Now, you don't have to follow all of this strickly, but it does give you a ton of flexibility. I noticed I have a fair amount of issues with money early on, but I am feel like I have learned a lot thanks the SDV Discord. It's good because even if you are experienced, there is still a lot to learn with the game.

Good luck!
