If you could ask concerned ape anything, what would it be?

Can I know if you guys are learning how to make 3D games.
The experience of playing Stardew Valley is almost perfect and I love pixel games.
but even though like Harvest Moon or Rune Factory, they are trying to make morden games.

I am not say pixel games are not appealing enough.
Whereas, making a perfect 2D game normally makes more effort becuase it needs more designers to output delicate graphical materials.
As we know, Stardew Valley has sold over 48 million copies, do you have a plan to expand the scale of studio to recruit more talents to make games together?
Thanks.

I have a question about the lore:
Are monsters and magical things common in the world of Stardew Valley or are they just things that happen in the valley and the inhabitants prefer not to talk about it? Teleportation and magical items could be useful for technological advancement, the caves would be a place of quite a bit of interest to scientists. Plus I can teleport in the middle of the bar, monsters are displayed in cages and no one in town seems to care.

So be honest are you sick of Stardew Valley yet? Do you ever play it for fun?

I’m nearly 4 irl years in and still loving it. I’m disabled and it makes up a good chunk of my daily entertainment. It literally keeps me alive at times as I have chronic Major Depressive Disorder and I can’t afford most games. They make you pay to play, pay a subscription or charge for updates. (We don’t have spare money.) But then I don’t have to do the probably unbearably repetitive, mentally draining and 24/7 at times of tedious coding and edits. Not to mention the constant negative criticism or complaints you unjustly get at times. I just have fun lol!

If you don’t play Stardew Valley for fun, what games do you enjoy?

Is there hope for a future update? I know HC is your new baby but after it’s released, is there hope or is it complete in your mind?

ETA: I can’t believe you’re actually replying to these you are so cool!

The recipe for chocolate cake contains no chocolate
I figure there are a lot of minor ingredients that you buy or bring in without the formal logic of "must buy at Pierre's". Maybe your parents send you in a care package. I mean, the number of recipes that are simply not complete as listed is ... just about everything more complicated than an omelette.

No current plans to make 3D games, but I'm not opposed... it would be interesting and something new. It's just that I've spent about 15 years doing pixel art now so I feel like I want to utilize all that experience.

Ape, are you proud of you're community?
Also, what's you're favorite game? (no saying you're own)
I'm pleased that Stardew has such a large, active, and dedicated community, yeah.
My favorite game? That's tough. I might have to say Harvest Moon: Back To Nature because it was my favorite as a kid, and inspired me to make Stardew Valley. But I like many different games.

I have a question about the lore:
I generally don't answer lore questions because I want people to interpret what is in the game as-is, sorry about that

I'm not sick of it, but I don't play it randomly just for fun. Though when making updates, I end up playing it a lot, and I usually always enjoy playing it again for the 100th time..
I go through phases in terms of what games I'm into. I tend to be a sucker for "numbers go up" games like Balatro and Nubby's Number Factory. Just feels like it's something where you can squeeze a few games into a busy schedule (but then I'll end up playing them for hours lol). I've also played World of Warcraft on and off since it first came out lol (my main is a mage)

How does it feel to have played such a big part in popularizing the farming sim genre? So many new games have come out that are marketed as Stardew Valley mixed with X genre/other game.
I'm happy that Stardew has played a role, and I hope it inspires some devs to make some new evolutions in the genre.

What's your favorite npc that isn't a villager?
That's really hard... instead of one I will list a few: Traveling cart pig, trash bear, raccoons, and the blue bird guy on the island that dances

Could you please consider preventing manually planted trees, from transforming in either mushroom-tree or GreenRain-tree, during fall?

While this is a bright mechanism, adding to the whole atmosphere too, as well as enriching gameplay (mushroom tree before Qi's room is great!)... It can easily ruin your tree rows, especially whenever they are thickly crowded huge orchards!

Perhaps, if you had at least one path tile around it, it would stay? Also, it would be cool to have something that guarantees that a tree will become a mushroom tree... maybe a mix of mushroom tree seeds and mystic syrup?

My ask is if we'll ever get a customization update, like text boxes and menus, maybe selectable bgm corresponding to the season or location? Dyeable furniture would be nice. Also, maybe some sort of pottery maker...? One can hope.

I have all my trees surrounded by flooring tiles. Still, some of them transformed into mushroom trees, this fall round...
