I need MONEY

Hi I was wondering if anyone knows any really fast ways to make money quickly to buy something expensive, like the golden clock in my case. I currently have many fish ponds, one for each legendary fish, two for Legend II, one for slimejack, one for lava eel, one for sturgeon, and one for squid, I preserve all the roe, but it still doesn't make me much profit, so if anyone has a more efficient way it would be greatly appreciated

If it helps, I also have a slime hutch and my greenhouse is filled to max with blueberries for money

Honestly just expanding anything out more will help.

If you're liking the fish ponds thus far just make more, they're decently viable a moneymaking source with legendary fish (and more so with legend 2s), especially if you can find a few crackers

Otherwise you have options to expand your greenhouse operation to the island farm which is a massive greenhouse in itself (though notably allows beehive placement which can be great cash alone or paired with crops)

Any simple processing (or getting more of your preexisting processing machines) will do wonders as well, and store whatever you have unprocessed to process it later, you'll benefit greatly from the slight sacrifice in profit now for a great influx of cash once they're artisan goods.

It takes some preparation, most notably tapping oak trees to get oak resin, but the easiest way to get more money than you'll ever need is to fill the greenhouse with ancient fruit and/or star fruit, and put the fruits in a shed filled with kegs. With artisan profession, a bottle of star fruit wine sells for 3150g.

Star fruit must be replanted, so think most people prefer ancient seeds for convenience. The wine sells for 2310g.

Put ancient seed fruits into the seed maker until you have enough. I have about 50/50 now in the greenhouse and haven't bothered to change it. I check the farm computer every morning, and it tells what is complete, which means I mostly remember to go to the greenhouse.

Fish ponds is great fun too. But I don't think anything can truly compare with profits from high value fruits to wine.

I have a chicken coop that's max upgraded and all of my chicken love me at max and I also have a barn that's max upgraded and they all love me and if I process that stuff I can make 20,000-15,000 a day as long as it all processes and then if I don't process it then I get about 10,000-15,000

I'm assuming you have the Artisan perk in farming, which makes a huge difference to the profitability of almost everything. The Angler perk in fishing is important too. Definitely add animal crackers to your fish ponds. Truffles, aged starfruit wine, and a massive amount of starfruit and/or ancient fruit wine are still the biggest money makers I know of. Aging goat cheese is more profitable than you might think, given how fast it can be produced and how fast it ages. Pumpkins made into either juice or preserves are a good sideline, as well as preserved pineapples and dehydrated rhubarb. (I save the kegs for the best wine and thus make pineapple preserves.) I also give dinosaurs animal crackers and sell their star-quality eggs after getting the Treasure Appraisal book - much more profitable than dino mayo, but not a huge source of income in the greater scheme of things. Still, it all adds up. I think ostriches are more profitable than a lot of other animals too although I'm not a big fan of them for whatever reason. Occasional fishing expeditions are another good sideline to get high-value fish like super cucumbers, blobfish, and so on, which can be smoked over time, especially after you get the advanced iridium rod and can use the quality bobber along with the trap bobber.

Money is a lot easier to make since 1.6. I don't speedrun or concentrate hard on making money, and I still find myself hitting the first million about three seasons earlier than I used to.

Fishing is a lot more profitable in 1.6 due to smokers, and that the quality is retained. I don't like to use fish bait outside of festivals as it feels kinda cheesy, but in theory you could fish up almost only catfish, sturgeon or super cucumbers for example, smoke them all, and make a pile of money that way.

Thankfully there is no need for min maxing yo the n-th degree. Money will roll in almost no matter what at some point, so why stress out. Just have fun

To make big money you have to scale up. Blueberries are good initially when you are selling raw or as seeds. Then you want to move to a more profitable chain. The chain has to be profitable but also scalable.

Fish ponds require a lot of area and like 20-50 Legend II. Mushroom logs are nice low effort income but require more and more moss so you have to plant tree forests, collect moss and manage mahogany forest as well.

Blueberries are good for 1-2 years, then they are too weak, unless you are on a standard farm and planting 3/4 or more under sprinklers while still not having any processing. When you get deluxe retaining soil, you can start pumping sheds with hops in pots and even more sheds with kegs. Pale ale path is rather simple, one big shed produces hops every day forever, and turned into pale ale, it's ~70k per day. 10 sheds that's 700k daily.... but you need double the count of kegs. This is the highest profit/day/area in the game, pretty much.

It's an oldie but goodie, but ancient fruit wine is a go to for many. Low maintenance and high output, although I think starfruit wine has a larger profit margin, and is easier to start up em masse.

Really though, it's whatever you want to do to get that money. I've made money in the weirdest of ways before, and there are so many tricks you can do.

P.s. the golden clock is overrated

So what's the best way to start making money early on? And later on, should I focus more on wine or fish?
Very early on, as in as soon as you can get the fishing rod, the best way to get money is by fishing. I think even the min max crew does that.

But pretty soon farming takes over, especially once you get good access to quality sprinklers and won't have to spend all your energy watering the crops, one at a time.

I'm sure people do different things, that is the great thing about the game. However, a big factor is when you're able to unlock the greenhouse and plant high value crops there. Give the first ancient seed you find to the museum so you get the recipe, and plant another one in the greenhouse. Then put fruits in the seedmaker once unlocked, and slowly expand the field.

At first it's nothing, but eventually you can start to make ancient fruit wine.

You can also grow coffee in there if you happen to get a bean. Just be aware that very quickly you'll have a whole stack, and it's a micro hell to put them onto kegs. And much worse on console for some reason

In early game, my strategy to earn money was fishing.

When I had money and engouh materials, I started to make kegs.
I placed more than 300 kegs in quarry and beach of Ginger Island.
Afterwards, I got my first ancient fruit seed and making use of seed makers to produce more and more ancient seeds.
If you don't have ancient fruit, you can buy some star fruit seeds from Sandy as a replacement.

Once you have enough ancient fruit seeds, plant them all.
One thing you should do first is unlocking green house because you need a place to produce ancient fruits with stable cycle.

Believe it or not, making kegs to produce juice/wine is the optimal approach for you to get money
Even in late game, you will have steady profit from kegs until Pelican town blows up.

Personally I believe that you should sell all of your fish.
