Xbox [HELP] Connection Error

Hello fellow valleygoers.
I recently tried to play Stardew with my friend who has a next-gen Xbox while I have a Xbox one and he wasn't able to connect to my co-op. Is there anything I can do or is cross-gen disabled.

is cross-gen disabled.
