1.6 Update Harvey won’t mention my baby?? (Local coop glitch…?)

Hey all! I’m new here and new to stardew valley in general- I’ve been playing for the past month and have encountered something I was wondering if anyone else has experienced?

I play local coop with my sister, and she romanced and married Elliot, I romanced and married Harvey- all is fine and well!

However, after we both had child that’s when we’ve encountered this strange issue:
Elliot speaks about my sister’s baby all the time, saying things like ‘I think the baby was saying dada earlier’ or ‘I fed ____ earlier’ etc but Harvey has NEVER mentioned my baby???

Before he was born, Harvey made a comment about filling out the adoption papers however, since the baby’s arrival he has NEVER talked about it?? It’s now fully grown and I have no idea why?? I though maybe it’s because he has dialogue about the clinic instead- but then I realised it’s probably a local coop glitch…?

Like another glitch we’ve encountered is that Elliot keeps standing in this spot behind my house and reading a book, but Harvey never has once (even tho I’ve seen pictures online of him standing there)

It’s just a little disheartening because he kept asking for a baby so I finally decided to agree, now he won’t acknowledge it (and he says stuff like ‘this is scientifically the perfect place to raise children, don’t you agree?’ HARVEY WE HAVE A KID INSIDE)

Have any other local coop players ran into anything like this??

I don't think that's a coop glitch, it's the spouses have random dialogue over the day and maybe the kids affected phrases just weren't chosen? I have four saves with different spouses and they don't often mention our children at all. Can be annoying sometimes, I agree. Maybe just try and talk to Harvey more often during the day, I think they have three different dialogues (morning, afternoon, evening).

Yeah that's pretty much it, probably down to luck as I think the variety of spouse dialogue around your kids should be pretty equal. Hopefully he remembers them and starts talking like usual

They often mention the child the day or two after birth but not often after. Maybe once or twice a week if lucky, sometimes not even that. CA did a great game on most every aspect of this game, however family life was not one of them. It’s been a complaint/suggestion since 1.4 at least (maybe longer) but he has always chose to focus on other aspects instead. I wish it was more developed upon as well, but many others don’t even marry in the game so you win some you lose some.

Who of you is the main player and who lives in a cabin?
As far as I know, only the main players spouse gets their outdoor area (in a fixed space behind the main house), the others do not have their outdoor space.

Harvey definitely has some child-related dialogue, but not all of it mentions your child by name.

Hi! Thanks all of you for the help! I’ll let you know if he does mention the baby! The little space is out the back of my house since player one moved their house else where and I moved my house there instead ahaha so maybe it’s still just that the space is designated for player 1- we just laugh about it because whenever she can’t find Elliott we know he’ll be standing out the back of my garden ahaha
